Well... please read this rant, I beg you. I put it in a spoiler tag because I didn't want to overwhelm you at the first sight with so much text before the translation.
Alright, it's been a few months already since Xophien's last translation of Kuroko, and he said he wouldn't keep translating it, at least not until the end of the year, so I'm giving it a try. After all, it was Xophien who encouraged me with my first translation ever. And also, Xophien started translating the same way as me, he started translating Eyeshield 21 knowing no more than the basics of japanese and basing on a translation of a spoiler, that's why I feel that I should do him a favor and translate Kuroko, now that he can't.
However, I'm way too sucky with japanese, and during my vacations I managed to cut down the time I spent at translating, from five whole days to two whole days (whole days meaning from morning to night), but still with a lot of it wrong. But now I'm not on vacation anymore, and that means I'd take around 5 days, maybe more, to get it done (and on weekends I already have to scanlate...). So that's why I'm going to take turns with hai_priesty to translate one chapter each.
In the first place: I've just been learning Japanese on my own for a few months, so don't expect this translation to be perfect, not even to be good. That means that if you use it for scanlations or international scanlations without being translation-checked, a lot of it will be wrong, and the people reading it won't get a thing. In the second place, English is not my native language, so I may (and probably will) get a lot of things wrong. So, you also need to get it proofread in order to use it for a scanlation.

What I'm doing is pretty much trying to figure out what each sentence means, but I don't get a thing and it's mostly guesses and... Heck, when I say that I suck is because I do suck. By the way, random notes for everyone - the figurine series, 戦国武将 mentioned, I believe should be a series for a Feudal Lords (and generals) of the Japanese Warring Period 400-500 years ago.
Some others things not findable in dictionary for Kuroko:
決めて - Usually means decides, but in Kuroko no basket, they often use this words for "deciding" the game as in shooting. Also means concluding (like concluding the first quarter here.)
人事を尽くしている - Japanese phrase said numerous times by Midorima. It means that
"People should do everything / make all possible efforts they can (and the rest is up to luck and fate).
