Ryoko: There wasn’t any turkey, but there was a deal on chicken wings.

Yuki: I see…

Ryoko: I told you the street mall wouldn’t have it. // That’s why I told you to give up.

Kyon: Give up?

Ryoko: Tch… // Kyon-kun, you spoil Nagato-san too much.

Ryoko: Okay, I’ll give this to you for being honest.

Kyon: Haha…Asakura is the one spoiling her…

Tsuruya: The carrot and stick? She’s doing a good job of winning her over.

Mikuru: That's nice of her.

Mikuru: We’re here to buy things for our club…

Tsuruya: Oh? Aren’t we allowed to go shopping in the street mall?

Tsuruya: Hehe…just kidding! That was kind of mean, sorry. / Well, I understand why you wouldn’t want to see us.

Mikuru: Ah…Tsuruya-san! That’s just a misunderstanding!

Kyon: This is bad! At some point they made me a member! I’ve even got a membership card too!

Tsuruya: Come to think of it…you were arguing about how to get a turkey…

Mikuru: Tsuruya-san’s family invited a lot of guests to their party.

Tsuruya: Hehe…you’re easily fooled! // Being happy that a rival offered to help you…what were you thinking?!

[Note: Tsuruya’s speech uses a variation of the expression 「敵に塩を送る」 (Lit: To send salt to an enemy). The origin of this expression was an event that took place in 1567, during the Warring States Period. Takeda Shingen broke off his alliance with the Imagawa clan. Angered by this, the Imagawa clan joined forces with the Hojo clan, leading to an embargo on salt in Takeda’s province. Takeda’s rival, Uesugi Kenshin could not stand to see the inhabitants of Takeda’s lands suffering, and had salt sent from Echigo. So, from this story「敵に塩を送る」means to help someone when they are in need, even if they are a rival.]
