View Full Version : CopyNinjaKakashi's 356 Review

June 02, 2007, 03:05 PM
I figured I would add another perspective on events in Naruto by starting my own reviews.

Thanks to:

Kylara for finding the RAW,
HisshouBuraiKen for his translation,
and the scanlation by kokotas, from which I pulled the images.

Thanks also to sahugani who gave me some pointers on getting the images.

Without further ado:

Naruto 356: Collision!

Color me bad!

Well we got another color spread, which is always nice. I know a lot of people aren't happy with Karin's hair color. It doesn't bother me too much. What really freaks me out in this image are her eyes. Juugo is freakin' huge, which I guess we should expect since he is older than the rest of them (You know he ate all his vegetables and drank his milk!).

If Kishi keeps doings these spreads with Naruto and toads, I would like to see some amphibian action from Naruto.

Passing in a Crowd

So Sakura and her nin-dogs followed Sasuke's scent into a crowded marketplace/town setting. Turns out they were actually tracking Karin. One would think that Karin would have noticed or heard Sakura talking to the dogs, but meh. I think the dog should be able to pinpoint Sasuke's scent, but maybe all the different odors in the town make it more difficult to locate the source of the scent. It seems these two may be destined to fight. I smell a cat fight in the future.

No surprises here

It was nice to see that Yamato, Naruto, and Hinata knew they weren't alone. Otherwise Hinata needs to work on her Byakugan. I just liked the art here, and how the cloaks add for effect.

He's back!

This was a nice surprise. I was hoping Kishi would bring Kabuto back. If he didn't do it soon, we would all wonder what happened to him. The last we saw of Kabuto was when he saw the remains of Orochimaru and Sasuke left him. We get to know what he was feeling a bit later and I will get to that. Interestingly, Kabuto has a nice cloak that only reveals half of his face....

Comic Relief

I just like how Tobi approached Sasuke and then retreated immediately. It was a humorous scene that didn't take up too much of the manga. Tobi also was a good distraction for Deidara.

http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/492/bigboompr0.th.png (http://img86.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bigboompr0.png)
The big bang!

Deidara attacks from above with both birds, causing a huge explosion. This was good teamwork by the Akatsuki. Hopefully, in the coming chapters, they will keep that teamwork up.

Little Black Book

So Kabuto's gift to Naruto is a book with all the information that he has gathered on Akatski. I don't think there is much info in there, since Kabuto himself said this wasn't a very good tool for leverage. Hopefully we will get to see what it contains. I would be ecstatic if if contained the identities of the last two members we don't know, but I know that would be getting my hopes up.

Identity Crisis

Without Orochimaru, Kabuto is like a lost little puppy. He had always wandered about, acting as a spy until he moved on to another village, until he met Orochimaru. He thanks Naruto for helping him realize who he was and what he can do... Another example of how Naruto changes people, but this time may not be ina good way. More on that shortly.

Where's Samuel L. Jackson when you need him?

So looks like Sasuke is pretty good at summoning serpents. And he is not in the mood for games, judging by his eyes. This scene just makes me yearn for Naruto to summon some toads.

This is one serious case of pinkeye!

Now we see why Kabuto's face was hidden. He incorporated part of Orochimaru into him so he could surpass Orochimaru. Alone Kabuto, would never be able to surpass Orochimaru, but now he is pretty freakin crazy and willing to do whatever it takes to gain strength. This confuses me though since I thought Orochimaru was buried in Sasuke's subconcious. I guess Kabuto took some remains of the white snake and experimented with the remains on himself.

This was an exciting chapter and we got to see several developments on both Konoha's side as well as Hebi's side. The plot is thickening at an incredible rate. In the coming chapters I would like to see Tobi and Deidara push Sasuke around a little. I don't want Sasuke to easily defeat two S-class shinobi. That would just make him even more god-like than he already appears. So Akatsuki pushes Sasuke around for a bit until someone from Konoha or Hebi shows up. This is where I'd like Kakashi to show up. It would definitely make sense with his connection to Deidara, and "possible" connection to Tobi.

I wonder if Yamato and company will try and stop Kabuto since he is to be apprehended on sight, or if he escapes. They definitely have valuable information that needs to get to Tsunade. I have a feeling there may be some more battles betwen Hebi and Konoha. We'll see why Juugo was activating his curse seal and what Kiba, Shino, and Sai are up to.

Well there's my first review, so I know the images are smaller than I wanted, so hopefully I will work the bugs out in the coming weeks. I hope you enjoyed the review and I look forward to some meaningful, fun discussion stemming from this.

nice review man. it took me a few weeks to work out the technical bugs in my reviews as well, so don't worry about the small pics.

i don't really have alot of time as i'm going to be trying to pull off reviews for all of the big three this weekend, but you made alot of points i agree with. i agree that Kishi should lengthen the deidara clash a bit as its still way too early in the arc for any one-shot KOs against fighters of that caliber

also, i love your captions. especially the Samuel L. Jackson one

June 02, 2007, 04:55 PM
Good review, i really want to see how Sasuke is going to deal with Akatsuki.

June 02, 2007, 05:49 PM
its nice to read a review that doesn't just talk about what we already know (to an extent) and we get your opinions on the topics. I think kabutos oro eye thing was a huge suprise as i just assumed we'd never see him about (gaara?) again. i do like surprises lol

and on the kakashi turning up would be awesome! kakashi and sasuke side by side against akatsuki. it would be really interesting, but i wonder if sasuke would try killing kakashi too... ah i'm going off on something that just wont happen :(

but i'm defently looking forward to next weeks as i want to see what sasuke pulls out ninjutsu and genjutsu wize

Cool review,...
more later (maybe)

I have only one comment/observation to make.
And it concerns Sasuke's scent. I would have to agree with Sahugani That it is most unlikely that the dogs where actually tracking a trace of Sasuke on Karin. Where that the case, they would have simply turned around and continued to follow her once she passed by them. I believe that the dogs knew what they where talking about and they actually had Sasuke's scent, and that Karin has some kind of power that not only allows her to locate people but also to keep others from locating her. The question is, did she specifically target Sakura or is she simply following Sasuke's orders and erasing their "tracks" so no one (especially not Itachi) can sneak up on them or sense their approach?

I think Juugo activated the cursed Seal in last chapter to hear the birds speak o.o, he says
"Let's start with you guys", and then put a bird near his ear, that is the only place the Cursed seal was on

Nice job. Continue.

Thanks for support everyone.
@sahugani-Thanks, I had ideas of some captions, and for some reason Samuel L. Jackson just made sense for that picture. If only he was Deidara's partner instead of Tobi.

@qwan- It will be interesting to see how Sasuke handles this fight. I just pray that itisn't a piece of cake for him, because it shouldn't be, going against two S-rank shinobi. I'd like to see him get smacked around a bit before maybe injuring one of them until some form of backup arrives for Sasuke.

@kenpachi- Yeah, I really hope it's Kakashi thaqt shows up, as it has been previously stated (I forget by who) that Kakashi is the only member of team 7 that hasn't met Sasuke post-timeskip. It would also add drama to the Tobi=Obito theory and there is also the revenge factor for Deidara. There are some interesting chapters ahead.

@kiddo- Yeah I thopught about that. Why didn't they just follow the scent back towards Karin. Hopefully we will get a more complete explanation of her powers in the coming weeks.

@Gio- I am not sure if the curse seal allows Juugo to communicatew with animals, but it's definitely a possibility. I think he may have already talked to the bird and someone was approaching. There is no evidence to support that though. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

@ornis- Thanks!

Please continue. It did very good for a first time beginner. :eyeroll

June 03, 2007, 07:29 PM
Lord Hokage- Thanks. As with most things, the more you do them, the better you get at them, so I know my reviews can only get better.

June 03, 2007, 08:01 PM
You welcome. Your reviews will get better after time, it's your will to succeed. :)

June 03, 2007, 08:09 PM
Great job man, believe me I know how rough this stuff is now. It took ages to work out the kinks, keep it up though and you'll get this thing just the way you want it.

June 03, 2007, 08:59 PM
ANBU- Yeah, you definitely appreciate all the work GK and the others put into their reviews. I'm sure I'll iron out the kinks in no time. And thanks. It is always good to get different viewpoints on the topics within each chapter.

June 04, 2007, 04:35 AM
Very good CopyNinjaKakashi. The reviews are great, keeps us better busy till the next chapter. As we'll miss GK, its good to have so many great reviews to 'cover' for it :P
Keep it up ppl

June 04, 2007, 07:42 AM
Mendes- Yeah, it's good to have a bunch of reviews. Each of us may choose to focus on something different or maybe sees something that some of us don't even think about.
