It’s a bird...it’s a plane...no, it’s .....

Mr. Congo Jack’s review of Naruto 358!!!!!!!

The Cover

....wait, where’s the cover? Can someone see the cover? There’s got to be a cover! There can’t not be a cover!!! How dare Kishimoto not draw a cover!! It’s unacceptable!!! Someone oughtta teach Kishimoto some respect and get him to draw a cover!!! You know, maybe Kishimoto is holding out to draw the cover. Maybe he wants a bonus to make the cover. I’d pay anything for the cover. COVER!!!! (Mr. Congo Jack sobs uncontrollably.)

Alright I’m over it. No cover this week, guys. Now onto more important matters.....

Where’s Naruto?

The major beef I have with this chapter is the lack of Naruto. It’s not that I despise Sasuke with every bone in my body, he’s a good guy, but the manga’s called Naruto. Not Sasuke. I know that one of the great things about this manga is that Naruto isn’t the strongest and has to work to get to the top, but personally I’d like to see Naruto at least once a chapter. Maybe Kishimoto could have put Naruto on the cover that didn’t exist.

There aren’t many things I hate about Naruto, but Sasuke’s wings are one of them. I personally don’t get it. Why does he have wings????!!!!!! Kishimoto gives Sasuke all of these crazy and powerful gifts - the Sharingan, the wings, the ability to attract every preteen and teenage girl to himself - but why? Is Kishimoto setting up Sasuke for a really big fall? Is he using it to contrast Sasuke from Naruto, who only has one real gift - the Nine Tailed Fox - which, to be honest, is more of a burden than it is worth sometimes?

Now onto some of the good points of this week’s chapter...

Deidara - Blowing the world up, one forest at a time.

I thought the dragon would blow up. I was wrong. Having is shoot out giant exploding pig-like things is much better! Boy oh boy, Deidara is the master of blowing stuff up. I wonder if he was at the Battle of Dresden....

Taking the term “Go-for” too literally....

I always saw Tobi as the “go-for” of Akatsuki. You know, the guy that the others tell to go get coffee and donuts or to pick up more paper for the printer. Seeing him emerge from the ground gave me a good laugh. Having him dig around and plant bombs is genius on Deidara’s part. I can’t wait to see Tobi start fighting on his own- it should be interesting.

Deidara, we hardly knew ye.

A cliffhanger ending! Is Deidara dead? I don’t think so. It ain’t over for him until we see some flashbacks.

My rating: 4 out of 5.

This chapter was good. It was action-packed and full of surprises. But due to the lack of Naruto and a cover, this chapter kind of felt like it was a bit lacking.

Thanks to bludshock for the clean, Kylara for the RAW, and Hisshouburaiken for the translation.

Your review is short and sweet. Keep it up. :)

I agree. The mangas is called Naruto who isn’t the strongest but working very hard to get there and not Sasuke who’s about to fall hard from arrogance to humility. Next chapter, Deidara will live, that not wishful thinking. Sasuke is not stronge enough too kill off Deidara. :eyeroll

Every manga has chapters wherein the main character is not present. Bleach, for example. There, we sometimes see nothing from Ichigo for 5 or more chapters. Instead other characters are shown fighting.
Plus, you can only show so much in 19 pages, anyway. Also, Sasuke had been missing from the manga for about 100 chapters. In other words, TWO years. No wonder Kishimoto gives him more page time at the moment. Let's also not forget that Sasuke is after all one of the four main characters.

As for Deidara... I think there's a good chance that Tobi rescued him somehow. The last chapter seemed to foreshadow Tobi's invulnerability and I think he used whatever ability he has to save Deidara.

The rest of Team Hebi should also soon make an appearance. And someone from Konoha, too. That explosion must have attracted some attention, after all.

I dont see a problem with Naruto not being in this chapter.
The only problem is that Sasuke seems to be winning against Deidara (yeah, I hate Sasuke with passion :) )
I disliked Deidara before this chapter, but him blowing off Sasuke's wing made me like him a bit :P

and of course there is a cliffhanger at the end, there may be no cover at the beginning of the chapter but the end of it has a cliffhanger every time!

great review btw, keep up the good work :)

Hi there. Nice bit of a review, Mr. Congo Jack. :beer

I have a mixed feeling when reading this chapter. One, I disliked Deidara so much for the last three chapters I'd like to see him get a sick beating in future chapters (when I read the previous chapters), but I didn't really have any idea that it'd have to be Sasuke who fight him. Two, on the contrary, seeing Sasuke "teaches Deidara a lesson" so easily makes me start to feel sick of the Uchiha. Did he really become so high and mighty to the level that he can whoop an S-Rank Missing Nin's a$$ in that ease? I hope not. I need to see the Deidara I fave since his entrance in Rescue Gaara arc (in terms of power and slickness), and Sasuke really needs to be toned down.

This is a great chapter but I expect a twist in the next chapter, because there is no way that Deidara can be finished in one blow :nono . I want to see Naruto finish him, not Sasuke. Just like that.

Nice review, yet again. I'm enjoying the comic stylings.

I kind of agree about Sasuke's wings. I mean, if he wants to give the kid wings, that's fine. But at least be consistent. He has Sasuke chop a wing of Deidara's Dragon, and the thing spins out of control. But one-winged Sasuke can seemingly glide without any trouble. Does the sharingan let you fly with one wing? Not a big deal, but it really seemed kind of strange.
