I hadn’t noticed the butterfly design but that looks EXACTLY like the FUG design and considering that the flare wave (or butterfly) is FUG’s technique it either comes from V or Arlene. I suspect it comes from V though since this arc has been all about Bam’s connection to V.

And we already know that shinsoo qualities (I am assuming elements like Jammin suggests) are inherited like ice and fire have been, so it’s not s stretch that Bam’s would be similar to V’s.

If Zahard is not a complete idiot then he should recognize that shinsoo and he should know exactly who Bam is now.
Yeah, if it is something like that Zahard would have to mention it soon.

If that is what the FUG symbols are taken from then V would make the most sense as an origin point since wasn't Arlen hinted at being a spell specialist. V supposedly had a great tension so that would mean he'd lean much more into the shinsoo quality side of things.

I'm pretty curious what the true nature of this shinsoo is going to be. We've seen a lot of visual elements assosiated with it. The sort of demonic look with the dark shinsoo and horns. Yet inside himself Baam presented it as a white line. But when he used it as an attack it was red and black with a butterfly motif. So there is a lot going on there.:amuse

Ah, good call. Zahard recognizing the shinsoo would make a lot of sense. It'd be like how aguero couldn't run from his heritage either. That said, it is worth noting that not all people inherit their family's gifts (looks at yura ha's hot body). Wonder how zahard would react to learning (or confirming I guess?) that bam is v's and arlen's child... other than with wanting to murder bam of course.

Maybe Zahard was too busy being taken by surprise to get a good look at it but he has to have some idea soon.

I think the horns are the blue and red demons. The thorn is already represented. And as to the white line, I think Bam was just doing something for himself. It’s not the line itself that is really important, rather it’s the attitude change that Bam had when he made it, that Bam is in control over what happens to himself. Once Bam embraces himself and stops trying to be someone else then his (I believe) true shinsoo quality comes out. This is similar to AA when he finally agreed to embrace his lineage his true power came out.

If I had to guess since the Golden shinsoo of Zahard is solid and protective, I would bet Bam’s is a piercing, destructive type (hence the attachment to Flare Wave). V’s family shinsoo seems to be a more offensive type.

I would think he’d be extremely conflicted. He knows the story that the King Zahard told him, and yet when he was created as data V and Arlene were his friends.

Tension refers to the user's ability to pack more shinsoo into a bang, as I understand this it shouldn't hint at V having any specific ability. Improved tension is something that should benefit any shinsoo skill. Tension is something that should be like a basic shinsoo skill which everyone has the chance to improve on. And learning shinsoo qualities/shape is the fastest way to improve tension. Even shinsoo quality/shape is too generic a term to suggest someone can specialize in it. As far as we know there are endless shinsoo qualities/shapes to boot.

As for the bold part... that immediately made me think of the clothes bam wore as a slayer candidate. Bam for all his successful soul searching has not yet managed to run away from his destiny....

Yes, tension is the concentration of shinsoo therefor it is a shinsoo related ability. Where what we've heard about Arlen's skill set involve spells which is not inherently shinsoo related. See my point here?

V is the parent whose ability we know was linked to shinsoo. And just so happened to be the head of FUG's master.

I don't see it that way. If my guess is right and that FUG symbolism is rooted around V's original abilities. If Baam has those abilities that doesn't say anything about Baam. It's more of an indictment of FUG's abject failure in their antagonistic approach to him.

These abilities belong to him. Not them. He has no reason to run from them. He's the one who will decide what they mean. FUG are imitators. Baam is the real deal.:nod

Which makes me think how awesome it would be if Baam wins this battle against Zahard comes out of the mirror only to have poor innocent foolish Karaka attack him. Because if he can take on a regular version of Zahard, and Karak does what he always does, that will not end well for him. Ranker or not.

Wow you are so right that Bam is the true inheritor of V, and FUG are the imitators.

I don’t know if Karaka and Yuri are even there anymore but I have a feeling (now that so much “time” has gone by in the HF) that there is some sort of time ratio, such that almost no time has passed on the outside.

If that is the case and we rejoin the Yuri vs Karaka fight I think you’re right that Bam will engage Karaka in a fight but also I think that Wangnan will have a Anakin/Sidious moment of “wait! I need him!” and Wangnan will leave with Karaka and company.

Ok, I see what you mean but I would still argue it is at least a weird way to phrase things. V being exceptional at tension ultimately tells us us nothing regarding how he fought. V having high tension does not even narrow down what positions he could cover or how what abilities he had. High tension has the potential to make any aspect of combat better after all.

I mean that in a similar way to aguero not being able to run away from his talents. Bam coming to terms with just being himself is great and all of course but for all his self acceptance it doesn't change the fact that so much of him comes from other people, namely the parents of the little kid whom zahard murder (which was technically but without certainty him). For all his self acceptance he is still walking a path preordained long before his birth. And the most bam can do here is either reject that path or walk it the way he chooses. And of course, bam's abilities belong to him alone.

That said, I don't really think fug had any delusions of "owning" bam in the long term. Even the luslec faction which has been somewhat.... "kinder" to him than the karaka faction probably harbors no delusions. Their plan was to have bam become a god for them to serve anyways, as such squashing them would have been easy for bam. Basically, they were pushing bam to become powerful even knowing it could easily cost them their lives. All in all, fug isn't immitating anything here. Luslec is someone that served V and likely took part in the civil war against zahard... Why would it be so wrong for him to use that symbolism when he served its owner for god knows how long? Which is not to say luslec wasn't an asshole to bam of course.

They wouldn’t be the first group in history to misuse someone for a cause. There are some movies for example where a character is murdered by allies and then used as a martyr. For all we know, this war isn’t what V or Arlene would have wanted. So far we have fragments of the truth.

I also think that they were trying to influence Bam and send him down a particular path, control him for as long as they could... perhaps even forever. He came into the tower quite innocent and was told for a long time that he needed to kill Zahard... but maybe that’s not true. Of course this is all speculation.

This is a war which V and arlen literally started and the one leading currently is V's direct subordinate. Not to mention that Arlen apparently cursed zahard to be murdered by her dead baby. Odds are that V didn't want the war to continue beyond his death of course, he did seem to tell arlen to just go home towards the end, but this is still a war which bam's apparent parents started. Which is not to say they wanted the war of course.

Of course, that is also a possibility. But that is still at best a gamble. Molding bam into the god they wanted.... The endgame was to make bam into a god, a bonafide slayer of fug. Heck, even now jinsung refers to him as his god and pretty much follows bam's orders. That is how elaine was freed.

Yeah sure, and the One freeing people from the Matrix will save the people of Zion.

Jinsung doing that could just be trying to gain Bam’s favor and influence him. But then again you could just as well be right that Jinsung does feel he sits below Bam already.

Regarding the war, I’ll reiterate that we don’t know the whole truth. Maybe the 13 GW had an agreement and then it was actually Zahard who broke it and started the war. The rest of the 10 heads capitulated to 1. Save their lives. And maybe 2. Fix the problem at a later time (thousands of years later apparently). And for all we know, Arlene’s position might have been that she couldn’t save Zahard but maybe her son could.

When V died and Arlene left the tower, anyone in their group in power could have seized the opportunity to create some false war in anger. You ever see the movie Memento?

I think everybody involved underestimated Baam. Not just FUG either. Probably Arlen too. Recent chapters have very much driven home the point that Baam won't be controlled.

Whatever destiny or whatever they wanted for him. He's going to do what he chooses to do.

That was their core mistake if you think about it. While they may have been trying to make Baam their "god" they seemed to define that as him becoming the personification of their desire to see the downfall of Zahard and his empire. Which is impressively conceited if they really believed him to be a god.

The tricky bit about gods is they don't answer to mortals. Mortals answer to them. The belief that they could mold or control him was arrogance from the start. You beg things of gods. You don't demand things of them. Instead of offering him things in the hope of gaining his favor, like Jinsung is now doing, they tried to take away his name, his friends, and his very identity. All so they could replace it with what they wished.

Going against the will of a god is the definition of heresy.

If FUG was smart about this and truly believed that Baam was their "god". Luslec himself should have showed up and murdered the crap out of Karaka long ago along with everybody else in FUG who had even looked at Baam or any of his friends crossways.

Then brought him a letter of apology and the best freshly baked cookies he can find.

Yes but Lusec’s end game isn’t just about Bam surviving. He needs to keep the Great Families in check and the Tower in fear of FUG. Giving Bam the easy path also won’t give him enough growth, I think it might be a test of worthiness that might backfire.

If only the blue pills from fug didn't get in the way...

Well, yeah, sure. On the other hand jinsung has called bam his god in front of people to whom that means nothing when bam isn't around (at the auction). That said, I don't mean to portray jinsung as a good guy, the guy is a colossal jackass and has been the biggest of dicks to bam.

Sure, we don't know the whole truth. But we do have plenty of context that suggests the information we have is at least not inaccurate. At worst we lack context. So far zahard usurping a throne which should have belonged to V seems to be correct. Him killing arlen's baby seems to be true. V and arlen rebelling seems to be true. V is not necessarily the good guy of course, we are talking about guys fighting over a throne to rule over people, but zahard does seem like he did more bad stuff here.

False flag? But how? That makes no sense to me. V lost the war, sure, but that doesn't mean the defeated stopped caring about this.

That just proves he doesn't really view him as a god. Just as a tool.

The very idea of testing Baam goes against the concept of them viewing him as a greater being than they are. It's inherent in that mindset that they believe themselves worthy to mold and judge him.

Which is the point I'm trying to make about FUG's foolishness with how they handled Baam. They believed they could dictate terms and control him but, ultimately in order to do what they want him to, they can't. Long before he's strong enough to take down Zahard he'll be strong enough to take FUG down. All they've done is make an enemy out of the one person who can make their dreams a reality. Their worst fear should be that Baam one day decides to side with Zahard against them.

Fug isn't one guy. They are a loose organization that can be purged. There are people like Jinsung who treated him well, like he was his god. The guy spent a fortune just to gain favor with Baam.

This is true.

But the reality that even Jinsung was threatening his companions earlier on and was at least complicit in his kidnapping in the beginning. And though he knew Karaka and the hardliners where trying to mess with Baam he did nothing about it. To be fair, it seems like Jinsung at least has changed his tune to some degree but he still doesn't seem willing to actually step up and put a stop to Karaka. When Baam was threatened it was Yuri, not him, that stepped up.

And when Baam decided he was going to board the hell train Jinsung tried to forcefully prevent it; so he's still willing to make Baam act as he wishes against Baam's own will.

F.U.G slayers are supposedly viewed as 'Gods'. This shouldn't be specific to Baam based on his heritage and prophecy. All Luslec and some fraction leaders seem to be doing is extrapolating what Baam could become by giving him their greatest weapon (pieces of it) and that already causes a conflict. Baam's treatment by them doesn't really appear foolish, more so towards hesitancy and possibly impatience after so long.

All Luslec and some fraction leaders seem to be doing is extrapolating what Baam could become by giving him their greatest weapon (pieces of it) and that already causes a conflict. Baam's treatment by them doesn't really appear foolish, more so towards hesitancy and possibly impatience after so long.
I think it's probably some of both foolishness and impatience.

The fact that they gave him the name they did makes it seem like they knew he was the son of V and Arlene. So they should have known that his ceiling is almost certainly vastly higher than any other slayer they've got. Karaka and White are never beating Zahard. Not in a million years. And strictly speaking the Thorn doesn't belong to FUG. It belongs to Baam. Enryu left it specifically for him. That they broke it into parts and smuggled them out to begin with is the only reason Baam doesn't already have the whole thing.

Considering Baam is their best hope of somebody taking down Zahard. I would think they would be like...

"Hey Baam! Need money? Here you go!"
"Hey Baam! Need power? Lets get you the best we've got!"
"Hey Baam! Friends in danger? Please, let us guard them with our lives!"
"Hey Baam! Need your shoes shined? Karaka shine his goddamn shoes right now!!!:yelling"

Remember Baam does not in any way need FUG. FUG on the other hand actually needs Baam. Without him they are well and truly boned. So it is not a relationship of equals where they are the superior and he is the subordinate. They are parasites clinging desperately to him.

You know this happens quite a lot, the people who were V and Arlenes companions or immediate next gen would hold them in high regard to stand up against zahard. However, for young fug slayers and recent high rankers who became members of Fug, to them, it very well might be a lore overhyped and even mythological rather than real. To them, it wouldn't make sense to give Bam everything they have(as prophecy from a source they dont really care much will mean zilch to them) rather treat him like a potential threat even given his allegiance was secured by threatening his friends and thus they might be afraid that if he gets too powerful he will snap back (which we hope for as well). They have Slayers as their God, not V or Arlen.
I wonder how old Hansung actually is tbh he Knew about V, Almost no one in Fug does. If they did they would be falling down and worshiping Bam instead of acting like Karkara: smug and trying to kill Bam off.
OH i wish Bam would rip karkaras face off soon.

LMAO

That is like every RPG ever.

“Oh Link you’re going to save the world? That’s awesome.”

“Hey can I have that bottle I need it to save the world.”

“WTF what do you think this is? Get 200 rupees like everyone else.”
