Some food for thought:

For those who don't know, Kodansha's MagaPocket mobile app has all WSM series from digital release (so no Ippo) available for free after a 3 week delay, and the app allows each user to "favorite" the series to keep a personal bookmark.

The number of favorites each series gets is publicly shown, so I tried ranking the "Favorites" count as of January 13th.

MagaPocket Favorites Ranking (Jan. 13, 2018)
  1. Kanojo, Okarishimasu (51366)
  2. Dometic na Kanojo (44247)
  3. Seishun Soukanzu (39451)
  4. Gotoubun no Hanayome (35906)
  5. Daiya no Ace Act II (31463)
  6. Days (26746)
  7. Mako-san wa Shindemo Jiritsu Shinai (19423)
  8. Real Account (18962)
  9. Runway de Waratte (18615)
  10. Fuuka (17730)
  11. Tokyo卍Revengers (17672)
  12. Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet (16816)
  13. Hoshino, Me wo Tsubutte (16467)
  14. Tsurezure Children (11319)
  15. Seitokai Yakuindomo (11096)
  16. Senryuu Shoujo (10980)
  17. Fire Force (8482)
  18. Sensei, Sukidesu (7913)
  19. Nanatsu no Taizai (6334)
  20. Fumetsu no Anata e (6107)
  21. Ahiru no Sora (6023)
  22. Tsue Petit Mahou Tsukai (5686)
  23. Eito Carnival (4585)
Numbers for some of the older, completed series:
  • Baby Steps (19906)
  • World End Crusaders (13004)
  • Kami-sama no Iutoori (10079)
  • Yamada-kun (9625)
  • Area no Kishi (6896)
  • Kessen no Kuon (6062)
Series that moved to MagaPocket from WSM and are still on-going.
  • Infection (49171)
  • Ranker's High (35316)

Do note that there is a bit of a recency bias, in that series that started after the app launched (~2.5 years) tend to pick up readers better, and they can be influenced by the kind of promotions that happen within the app. I do have a small theory that the recent romance push is somewhat influenced by their desire to promote the app, but that's a story for some other time.

Well I didn't know Infection and Ranker's high were online only, does that mean they might be ending soon? Kanojo, Okarishimasu being at the top is quite surprising, I guess it really fits what the readers of the magazine wants and the demographic, I really like it as well, so good to see it's doing well.

200k copies in print for Runway de Waratte? That's great, now if only the translations weren't somewhat dead.

I think that Infection was moved to Magapocket more than a year ago and if I remember correctly it wasn't a bad seller, like 30k per volume. Maybe it will end soon, but it should have like 100 chapters no? It is not a bad ride tbh

Infection started to sell a lot better when it transferred to Pocket. I don't think it'll end soon, Ranker's High could end faster though.

Well that list was certainly surprising. I understand the recency bias, but seeing Seishun it third place and Mako-san in seventh really caught me off-guard.
Excellent news for Runway! It looks like ts sales are steadily starting to grow in a similar manner to Senryuu Girl's. Hopefully they'll both continue to grow in the upcoming year.

Interesting trailer.
It is good to see that Okubo will interact with the fans at an event.
Some mangakas do not like to participate in such fan events.

This is Eito Carnival's 8th chapter, so that's not the best start for ranking. However, WSM placed the lowest emphasis on TOC placement out of all the magazines I reviewed. But if it ends up in the bottom of the TOC for the next few issues, I'd say it's a goner for sure. Seishun's not looking too great either. I really don't like Seishun and its first volume sales weren't impressive, so if it's second volume gives similar or worse sales, I can picture it taking World End or Kessen's spot at the bottom until the new serializations come along.

Dr. Prisoner's first chapter has been released in English on Batoto (which is shutting down in approximately 24 hours), and Sensei, Suki Desu had its first chapter translated into Spanish for those on here who can understand Spanish

UGH, HERE IT IS! Here it is! Try not to get excited.

Please be an anime announcement with studio BONES being in charge of the project. (Or a good studio in general). I said it would probably be announced in December, but this is good.

Or it'll be something else, which would be anticlimactic. But, I have noticed some extra promotion on the Twitters for Fire Force in the last week and what else could this be? Live action would not make sense, since this would be almost impossible to adapt in Live Action with all the fire effects. A video game of some kind? I guess that's possible, but I'm pretty sure video games mostly come out after anime adaptations, FIre Force also already had a mobile game last year so I doubt it's another one of those. A stage play is another option, but is that really worthy of a special announcement?

Can whoever has been following the magazine for a long time say what these special announcements usually end up being?

I just want this to get a really good anime, that will really bring in a lot of people into the series.

And wait, Hajime no Ippo is probably ending? There were rumors spreading around the last few months. If anyone's keeping up with the manga, please tell us what you think.
