I remember that when the AssClass anime was announced, I thought the manga would explode in sales. But that didn't happen. I mean, it sold a lot, but it didn't reach 1 million in the first few weeks as I imagined it would be, considering that AssClass was a phenomenon when it debuted in WSJ.
Its sales almost reached its maximum before the anime so there wasn't much room to growth anyway, it was kind of expected. I will not look for it now, but I vaguely remember saying such thing at that time.

Well, SnK was selling 700k before the anime. And after the anime, the numbers almost tripled. But Bessatsu is not as popular as Jump, so maybe that explains the difference with AssClass.

Sales are always such an abnormality. Hard to believe AssClass reached its peak before the anime that there was next to no boost whatsoever whereas One Piece has had three boosts throughout its 20 year run and it was already a million seller before the anime. HxH was already a million seller before the 1999 anime yet still got a boost 12 years later with the 2011 series.

Well of course an [remade]anime 10 years later would boost sales, thats an entire generation who were never there at the beginning...versus 1mln people who were already on board with a series animated in just its second year of running.

I think shingeki should be ignored or treated as an outlier/anomaly, the power of an episode 1/2 that hit all the right notes in generating huge amounts of praise and hype.

^You say that but all the recent Jump remakes like Jojo didn't get a spike increase in back sales the way HxH did and those anime did incredibly well. Houshin Engi definitely won't get people to buy the manga despite how disappointing the adaptation is.

JJBA style stuff is just not what people want these days, no story of friendship or bonds or modern anime designs, felt more like a passion project for a studio, rather than something to spread brand awareness.

Houshin Engi, this season was my first time hearing of it so I cant speak on that one. It is an awesome anime this season though. I look forward to it weekly.

Don't worry. The same topic will be brought up by the same person next week with the same people replying, filling 2-3 pages of aimless speculation of a series that hasn't even gotten an anime announcement yet, all for the inevitable purge by the neighborhood moderators. Let's just move on until then.

Anyway have a question. Has there ever been a successful mystery-detective/psychological/drama series in WSJ? Idk if you guys are heard of this show but I've been crazy hooked on Danganronpa for the last week or so to the point I'm behind on some weekly series like Magus Bride and BC. I'm seriously in the mood to read or watch one, I really enjoyed Kagamigami and was blown when it died. If not WSJ what mag?
I know. Danganronpa is wonderful. : D
In addition to the manga already mentioned, there is a series of the 70s with this theme, which was even parodyed by Gintama once. The name is Doberman Deka, and is Buronson's first work.

I’ll check Death Note and the other series you guys mentioned when I have a chance.
Wait what, I recommended Death Note sarcastically. I didn't think you actually haven't seen it yet lol. It's the token psychological mystery in Jump.

Well, one thing's for sure, World's End Harem will get an anime.

Is Lycopene the Tomato Poodle doing better than Isobe Isobee? It is doing better than Spring Weapon...

Since there is no TOC today, I'll just leave this here.

Free Nipples Harem sells double the amount of the Super Pushed Dr. Stone. Free Nipples anime when?

Im glad all BLack clover volumes are still charting.

I wish Vigilantes was doing better. Its at times more entertaining and better paced than than main series.

When Jump+ released I thought it would be a good place for some alternative series to be published, who would have thought that the bestsellers there would be the most cliché thing: ecchi.

Not yet. Isobe debuted a lot better with 21k in 6 days, though it hasn't appeared in the rankings for the last 6 volumes. Seemed to get 10-15k depending on the days counted.

Gag manga sales is not counted, it is the kind of series that are made for the magazine, the popularity in the magazine is what matters although we cannot see it because they put it on the last place on purpose.
