A consequence as a result of Takahiro Satou unfortunate death is that the bachi bachi series, a great series, will be left unfinished.

On to another brighter topic, the new series. akatora is going for a an unusual genre in WSC last series, I can remember was kurotora by Suzuki Kai in 2015 which ended with 5 volumes all published at least.
For oni romcom this wont be Izumi first romcom but it will be his first weekly series, the preview art looks fine so i hope he wont have any problems.

Hopefiully these new series can lighten the mood in this tragic period.

I'm glad to see Rokudoe, Atsumare, Iruma, and Beastars on the list, but it is really sad and pretty surprising about Hachi. I didn't think it would sell that badly, in fact, I thought it'd do pretty decently. How did Jitsu wa do when it first released?

I was expecting, at least, Rokudou level of sales.
I don't think Jitsu Wa charted with the first volume, but it always appeared in the Oricon top 50 later on.
Found the first week of sale for some volumes.

Nagi no Oitoma is definitely akita shoten biggest surprise hit this year. Its first volume didn't even manage to rank in shoseki.

50th anniversary of Champion's project is beginning, every issue will have 2 series serialised in past introduced.
In Issue 34th Dokaben and Sho - Pan were the ones introduced - two baseballs series with long runs in the magazine.

Akatora is not very champion like, it feels something fit more for jump. First chapter didn't show to me a style of its own and its in a genre with very little success in Champion, so I wonder about it chances at survival, time will tell.

Its been almost an year since i did posted how i though the magazine was, so here is an update.

Baki, Pedal and Saint Seiya importance to the magazine have not changed. Baki dou has ended but its sequel is likely coming this year. Beastars is the recent addition, it has gained significant attention and its sales have increased but i do not see its at the level of the others in importance.

Not officially but it is doomed and should end with in the next few issues for the future new series round after this current one. for some reason Mound no Taiyou digital volume 1 and 2 will be available on the 23rd of July, before its print releas on the 8th of august.

With a new romcom lined up and sports series which i think the magazine was lacking in, i wonder what the next new series round will hold, i personally would like a horror horror, suspense mystery by possibly Suzuki Yuuta or Sugiura Kou both talented guys that i have seen in champion magazines within this genre.

Junior is looking good to survive at least for now.

Yeah, right now it seems like Champion has a pretty nice variety of genres going on that are doing well. I wonder if they'll stick to trying to find an action/gory/horror series like what Great Old and Inferno both tried to be. Depending on how big the new serialization round is, I could actually see Shutsujin surviving another round since it looks like Inferno definitely will and Mound may both end before it. Plus, isn't there an open slot from Samejima?

With regards to importance, the only thing I see Beastars lacking in is time, otherwise its just as important as those other three. Its won 4 awards just this year and will most likely continue growing.

It does feel like its in it's final arc, although it could probably go on for a while longer.
