Sigh, image dimension does not denote the quality of a scan. The quality of an magazine/tankobon scan is judged by paper and/or ink itself (Along with image compression, I guess.). Big != HQ.

That's just MH's bias opinion on grade. Everyone has their own view on what quality is.
I personally grade quality based off the scan itself.
For example, a low quality scan will still be low...

There's no point in "making blacks, black" if you're literally destroying the rest of the image to do so. There's also no rule that says you have to use filters to make a speed-scan.

You re-size it to whatever you want that you feel is acceptable. Some prefer 1200px by height, I prefer 1600px. As for doubles, you'll just have to learn how to redraw, or simple don't redraw at all,...

Your problem is, you denoise. Not sure were speed scanlation = denoise, or that you have to denoise to do anything decent came from (Considering 99.6% of the groups that denoise, don't know how to....

Sharpness of a image also has to do with when you curves/level and how many times you re-size. Curves/leveling and merging down before you re-size will produce better results then re-sizing then...
