Yes. For Nodame Cantabile, the anime series for this is also out this month (jan) in Japan.Check this link...http://www.nodame-anime.com/ (in jap).
It follows quite closely to the manga. There was some scanlations for this up to Vol. 4.
Anyway, another Josei series to check out is actually Honey & Clover - a more bittersweet romance, almost like Kimi wa Petto, but is more about the love lives and choices of young graduates.
The anime series for this is really good too.
The only Josei I know is Kimi wa pet. Like very much and watched the drama a year ago.
But the other I don't know I will seach for they, Because I like very much Josei manga.. Is more interest than normaly shoujo ^_^ in some aspects. Nana is josei too? I didn't know O.O.. And I read Nana is very good. ^_^
Is Nodame Cantabile really good? I hear it a lot, and I believe it was best shoujo manga for 2004?
Hmm, personally, i won't consider Nodame Cantabile the best shojo manga for 2004, as the romance factor is not that high here. (er..are we talking about romance factor?) Anyway, this manga is more about life, and how the students discover themselves through music. But I guess it won the Manga award that year based on the more realistic settings and problems faced, unlike the rest of the typical shoujo plotline.
if you wanted more Josei factor, Kimi wa petto is a better bet definetely as it talks about a woman in her late 20s, and how she's being otracised by her collegues, because she's just too tall, too smart, too capable and too beautiful = too intimidating &in their culture, there seems to be a glass ceiling. So it basically talks about her life & how she deals with love.
But then, I have read both & like both series, so if you haven't read them, maybe u can give it a try? Or you can check out Nodame Cantabile anime series for a better idea too!
I've watched Kimi wa Petto Jdrama. 8/10 rating for me.
Oh...I dont really like the Jdrama for this, gave up watching after 2 episodes :P
I feel that reading the mangas is always better.
hmm, i recommend "Emma" by Mori Kaoru, and uhh the manga is way better than the anime
btw i think Nodame Cantabile is more "Josei" than "Shoujo".... gyaboooooo!!
Kare Kano is josei?! Now that I didn't know. I started watching it recently. They are such a sweet couple
Nope, Kare Kano is a shoujo. Maybe a bit more matured shoujo but no Josei^^
Just caught up on this thread, had problems connecting to the site -
So Nodame Cantabile isn't published in English? What about the anime?
I'll have to check out Happy Mania sometime. It sounds good.
I've never heard of Flowers and Bees or Honey and Clover. I'll have to look into those.
I'm also assuming Kimi wa petto isn't being sold in English? That really sounds interesting. Guess I'll have to look for scanlations sometime.
The Nodame Cantabile manga is licensed by Del Rey and it appears that 8 volumes has been published in English. The anime is only at episode 6 in Japan.
Kimi wa Petto is licensed by Tokyopop, and was renamed "Tramps Like Us". It seems that 11 volumes are out in English. Good luck in finding scanlations of it since scanlators usually drop projects once they are licensed.
I guess if you can't get a hold of the manga for Kimi wa Petto you can check the Jdrama out. I love the actor of that one. I just forgot his name. He also played Domyouji in Hana Yori Dango Jdrama.
Ah, thanks. I don't really mind buying manga. I'm actually looking to start a new series. So I just have to decide whether I want to try Nodame Cantabile or Tramps Like Us.Originally Posted by Ayah
Incidentally, by the way, Nana isn't josei - on the brink of it yes - but it's shoujo. The most popular shoujo title in the world, according to the back cover of the Viz volumes we get out west, heh.Originally Posted by baboysai
