This is actually quite old news, after Kazemon15 said how she bought the Japanese version of the DVD, I've been tempted to get a volume or two. But obviously the Japanese version is extremely expensive, luckily the Taiwanese have released their edition too.
Even on the overpricing Yesasia, it's still less then half the price compared to the sale price on Amazon.co.jp. Chinese editions are just generally cheap, and it's still legit. But Yesasia haven't updated it for ages...A Hong Kong edition should be out soon, or so I hope. HK editions are cheaper then Taiwan versions, as they tend to be released in box sets. But if you still want the highest possible quality, the Japanese edition is still the way to go, since their DVDs are made from the original masters.
I bought most of mine from Playasia.com, mainly due to them having a 5 dollar off coupon. But I after I realized they didn't show if they still had limited edition sets in stock or not, I flocked over to cdjapan.
They have a discount price for older DVDs and tells if they still have the limited editions or not. My friend already ordered the character profile DVD cuz it said to come with a new creditless opening.
In my AMV friend's experience, I would not get any Chinese or Taiwanese DVDs. I heard the quality of them is equivalent to a bad bootleg... =/

That's the problem with chinese version, bad quality. Seriously I have some random singer's kareoke DVD, quality was absolutely horrid. But it's the least I can do to support the creator, at least it's still legit (it definitely helps the creators more then crunchyroll or something). But chances are I'll buy the merchandises or manga then the DVDs. DVDs and CDs tend to come last on my shopping list.
I wonder are Taiwan DVDs better? Hong Kong editions are absolutely horrid.
Japanese DVD/CD prices are just insane <_<;;...makes me want to cry. I know KHR anime DVDs are cheaper then your average anime DVD...but still.
I have a few miniature Reborn figures, they're awesome but they do scratch easily!!
The preorder for ReboCon DVD is selling pretty well on the animate best selling list, ranking 2nd. Obviously it's an Animate special, so it'll rank pretty high on its ranking. I still found it interesting that it has beaten Durarara! 1st volume, considering it's the brand new fangirl favourite this season. Hetalia's Ore-sama CD was ranked on the oricon charts, so I guess when the ReboCon DVD is released it would also rank on the oricon charts? If we know the rank, we can estimate its sale (of course the sale is probably leaked on 2ch again).
Japan never fails to amaze me (I shouldn't have searched for KHR on animate's site):
TLY!Squalo official cosplay: http://www.animate-onlineshop.jp/pro...uct_id=1003097
TYL!Xanxus official cosplay: http://www.animate-onlineshop.jp/pro...uct_id=1003093
Hibari Perfume: http://www.animate-onlineshop.jp/pro...oduct_id=65797
They actually got the cosplay costume for the current (?) Xanxus and Squalo cosplay. They got Mukuro and Chrome's uniform too. Seeing all these merchandises, dakimukuras (sp?) doesn't seem possible. Especially all the merchandises are targeted at fangirls anyway...

PFFFFFF....hahahahah i laughed so hard when i saw the official cosplay... er.... can they choose a hunk for Xanxus instead of... that estrogen filled... woman? 0_0
Squalo must be a real badass to be able to fight in high heels. *facepalm*
@Lila: can i see the Mukuro and Chrome version as well? =D
@Oni_James: Actually, character based perfume is not something new... sure, it is not very common, but it is not new... there's actually a Hibari tea as well. >__>

At least they're honest with which gender it was targeted to.Originally Posted by ReanaCamellia

I think the problem is that KHR is a mainstream series that runs in WSJ. But the merchandises are very 'otaku' (I said this a while ago somewhere), and obviously the casual/normal fans would raise an eyebrow. Although it still haven't gotten to the stage where dakimakuras are made, at least.
Also, Animate is female dominated.
No wonder Konata keeps going there. But the merchandises REALLY amuses me. The other day, I was clicking through CDJapan and it wrote 'Katekyo Hitman Reborn! 3D mouse pad', I thought it was one of those boobie mouse pad for Chrome...of course that wasn't going to happen.
95% of weird...sh...stuff comes from Japan. Amirite?

^ i am half-joking xD
but that XX cosplay just look awfully weird >__>
probably they just want to show the costume and that's it, but i still prefer they choose a guy to do model it
i never really search for merchandise, so i am not so sure how otaku Bleach, Naruto, and OP mechandises are... but i think i have seen Naruto and OP 3d mousepad. And you mentioned Gintama dakimakimura (spelling?) before...
KHR dakimakimuras are indeed a possiblity
Chrome cosplay is kinda cute! But the mukuro one... Dx
Squalo one is not so bad actually, but i wonder why their choice for the male chara cosplayers do not look so good. =/
@Lila: is Chrome, Squalo, XX, and Muku are the only ones that have 'official' cosplay?

The 3D mouse pad for OP is targeted at guys, which makes more sense for a shounen series. KHR merchandises are aimed at female otakus, some of the illustrations look awfully...fishy for a shounen series.
Xanxus and Squalo gay bar illustration from the calendar comes to mind. The excess amount of merchandises that has Hibari and Dino together are very very fishy. Also, quite a few of the merch only releases Hibari, Mukuro and Tsuna version.
Gintama is a gag series...so I guess the male readers just laugh at the fangirls at hugging Gintoki at bed?
Makes no sense to me that the small size is for 150cm. I'm 150cm, and I'll never be able to pull off Xanxus. I might be able to pass as Tsuna...or Basil xD. I guess it's similar to male otakus who guys female character cosplay dresses.Originally Posted by ReanaCamellia

They are the only ones I managed to find. There is Tsuna's 27 mittens that I saw on CDJapan. I wouldn't be surprise if they start making one for Hibari, Dino, Fran and Bel. They look fun to cosplay...Originally Posted by ReanaCamellia

We'll have Hibari, Bel and Dino for the the 2nd DVD. I definitely did not expect Bel to land within the top 10. I also thought they would have put Mukuro along with Hibari, but Dino makes perfect senes too.
So we're left with Mukuro with three other characters...

Mukuro must be 2nd than
Ryouhei never ranks within top 10. So we can forget about him (unfortunately). 2nd is obviously Mukuro, just like the want wanted groom list....I say 5th is possibly Squalo, he's pretty popular. Yamamoto 'might' rank 10th or 8th, his popularity wobbles quite alot. Reborn has a good chance too, since he seem to be quite popular with the normal fans.
Didn't expect Bel to rank higher then Xanxus...
