After reading through the entire Naruto series again, I could not help but notice that sleeves seem to play a large part in Naruto battles. In most cases the victor is the character who still has sleeves at the end of the battle or has had sleeves throughout. If both characters have sleeves the victor will ussually be the combatent with the longest sleeves. When a character loses an arm (therefore losing a sleeve) their victory is far less obvious or comes at a high price i.e Jiraiya sending a message containing the secret to defeating Pein or Deidara losing an arm as part of a strategy to capture Gaara.
Zabuza Vs Kakashi (2nd): Zabuza lacked sleeves and Kakashi was the victor.
Kimmimaro Vs Gaara: Kimmimaro was shirtless at the time of his demise, thus making Gaara the victor.
Neji Vs Kiddimarou: Kiddimarou wore a sleeveless outfit and lost the battle
Sasuke Vs Deidara: Although Sasuke was topless at the climax of the fight he still had sleeves upon his person wheras by this time Deidara did not. Sasuke was the victor.
This is only a very short list of the cases that theory has been proven.
I believe that it is possible to determine battle outcome in Naruto using this theory.
Hidan had a sleeve missing and he still killed Asuma who had both sleeves.
Hidan did end up dying
Maybe this theory is based on the very end result
This theory is somewhat similar to the cloakless akatsuki theory
evertime an akatsuki loses his cloak he dies
hidan(half off) dead
I think this is an occasion where correlation does not prove causation.
It's funny when things that really shouldn't be plausible to the outcome of a match do end up becoming plausible because of how the author thinks. Correlation and causation pertains to real life, but not manga.
Akatsuki cloak off = death, until proven wrong.
Maybe it's Kishimoto's unintentional habit, which he isn't aware of at all.
Something that is stuck in his mind.
Or maybe he can't draw wounds and blood through those capes.
Still, each of Akatsuki so far took off their robes for a reason. Whether it is to use their abillities (Sasori, Kakuzu) or to save their neck (like Deidara).
But it's a fun theory. I couldn't stop laughing when I read first two posts.
I agree with that every time one of the Akatsuki loses a cloack they die, man i have not been on here in a while like almost 2 months i miss you guys
Losing sleaves, and also talking about the next generation taking over might turn out to be a popular recipe for death.
