Hello, I'm having some trouble with a couple of sentences of a manga I'm translating.
I can't make heads or tails of this "ute" thing.
It's an old 1976 manga and they often speak in dialect.
For example, "jaken" for "dakara" and so on.
The first sentence happens after the guy (teacher advisor)
explains to the part time student baseball squad that the president of the supporting group
for the full day students baseball one won't support them 'cause the expenses
will be doubled and they are giving all they have to send off the official squad to Koushien.
The second one happens immediately after.
If the second sentence is easy to undestand (the guy apologizing for his lack of power
in the matter), the first one...I guess he's got cheated 'cause the president first said him
they would have gotten his support if they would have kept on winning (as they did)
and then he's refused. But it's only a wild guess until I know what that "ute" means.
I hope someone can help.
