I'm going with Saitama as well. He is one unusual superhero.
I also nominate from "Haiji" Hungry Joker. The first 15 pages of the very first chapter should convince you.
Faust, Sket Dance is not eligible because it started serialization in 2007. Please read the requirements detailed in the first post before starting your nominations, thanks.
I nominate Furuichi Takayuki from Beelzebub. He's the weakest character of the whole manga, but for a very brief moment in time he gains access to an incredible amount of supernatural power, and decides to get back for all the verbal abuse he's suffered through the hands of his classmates. Why? Because he spends most of 2012 being bullied and left out of current affairs, and when he finally has enough, he wrecks everyone's shit and demands more respect. He basically has a meltdown of epic proportions. And it works. Because he has a cold when all this happens, everyone he fights geniunely thinks he gets insanely strong because he's sick.
And eventually, the power he gains is revealed to have a nasty side effect: madness, blindness, and even death. When Oga, the hero and also best friend, confronts Furuichi on why he's so stubborn on giving up this power, he reaches his lowest point of self esteem, claiming he'd rather be dead than have to ensure the bullying any longer. Its not that the bullying is life threatening (its not), its that no one respects him. Its his pride that Furuichi fights for, and its something that makes you realize how Furuichi is far more capable, willful, and resilient than he's ever let on before. He's the guy who wanted to befriend Oga when no one else would, and its actually because of his friendship Oga turns out the way that he is. Not only that, its his resilience that makes him an equal in Oga's eyes, not just a lackey.
And just like that, you realize Furuichi is a lot more of an important character than you ever thought about. He can be just as much of a contender as Oga is, if only people took him more seriously.
So yeah. General Furuichi for Best Male Character of 2012. And he can still crack jokes without being a total buttmonkey. I also support Korosensei from Assassination Classroom.
I support Furuichi Takayuki from Beelzebub
I stopped reading Beelzebub a while back, but Furuichi was always far and away my favorite. Hmm getting some power sounds interesting, maybe I'll pick it up again.
I'll support Furuichi
I nominate Kirei Kotomine from Fate/Zero
I support Saitama and Aladdin
I nominate Alibaba and Sinbad from Magi
I nominate Furuichi (Beelzebub), Koro-sensei (Assassination Classroom) and Kumagawa Misogi (Medaka Box)
I nominate Suzuki Hideo from I am A Hero.
