Oda doesn't really do things for no reason, and Kinemon caught petrified (whatever the term may be for it) by the Shinokuni then broke out of it.
There seemed to be no real reason for this, but is it possible that he got poisoned by it and that can possibly play a role later on the story?
Same with Mononosuke eating the artificial DF deemed a "failure".
Could both of these things be set up for a later time, putting them near death?
No long lasting effects of Shinokuni were hinted. Just paralyzation, petrification and death after a while. Kinemon got freed, so were a bunch of marines and probably some CC's workers. I don't think it will have any future significance. Why does it need to have some special purpose, anyway? It was just used to show Shinokuni isn't lethal if treated fast enough.

Dude he is magic and seemingly non-sensical. It was just hillarious that he was not dead. Then later the cure was announced. Anger over not dying happens all the time in OP. Sogeking jumping off tower is best example. I think especially after Thriller Bark, the crew is wary of the undead.
I think the main purpose this served was to show that people could be saved from shinokuni, that its effects were less than instant. It was through him that we learned that people could be saved from the gas after all.
The only purpose was to show us how idiot he is, and also protective (he wanted to get his son back !!) despite the gas.
He may be a new nakama in the future, so he may be a little idiot and pervet, that's good for the crew (Sanji-Kinemon-Brook is a pretty good trio!!)
