the basement has information regarding the outside world, perhaps titans
eren's dad said he would show eren what was inside the basement after eren spoke on his desire to see the outside world. had there not been an attack, eren would not see the outside world until perhaps he joined the recon squad.
the outside world is a mess due to war
there are no asians left in the series besides mikasa who is half asian, this implies asians were wiped off the planet due to war or were the first victims to titans and weren't able to escape (somehow).
reiner/annie/bert came to the walls on a mission to look for someone
reiner says they would stop their attack on those inside the wall if eren came, assuming he was the "coordinate." however, eren probably isn't this "coordinate" and it is hinting at someone who is higher up in the political system/wall cult (since they intend on using christa for that). it is also possible it is grisha, who has the ability to turn anyone into a titan with his research.
and if it is grisha, their organization wishes to make use of that.
(connie's mom was an abnormal titan probably as a result of the monkey titan)
(assumption- grisha can turn people into ymir-type titans)
the question is not if mankind is doomed, but when
reiner speaks to ymir about if the world has a future (assuming world = life within walls) and ultimately sides with reiner. therefore mankind probably has no chance against titan forces outside but reiner/annie/bert's group may have (a chance at surviving).
grisha has experimented on titans/is a titan himself
grisha has the genetic w/e vials that allow people to transform into titans
he also knows that titan shifters must master the ability, which most likely means everyone who shifts their first time probably has no control over their titan.
grisha is not a part of reiner/annie/bert crew or whoever they work for
grisha probably would have brought his family inside the walls or leave them if he had prior knowledge to the attack
grisha has probably left the walls and remains outside of them
he injected and spoke to eren after wall maria fell + he is nowhere to be seen
grisha probably will not return to the walls anytime soon
grisha told eren to retake wall maria and that he must enter the basement to learn of the truth, the fact that grisha left this knowledge to his son and no one else probably means he is doing something of greater importance outside the walls and/or there is some sort of deeply embedded corruption within the walls.
titans who inhabit the walls were originally shifters
the only way to keep a titan still is to have a titan shifter who can control his titan, stay still and stay in this form while the walls are built around him.
the church/select higher up individuals know about titans inside the wall
they try and to use their influence to prevent people from leaving the walls/desire for outside
there is a definitive three groups, and maybe more
1- mankind within the walls
2- titankind? titan shifters who may want the serum to turn people into shifters?
3- regular titan maker (ape titan)
Yep, good list.
Btw, we could focus on how these mysteries will be resolved, with respect to the plot.
For eg. If I want to know about Grisha's past. Who is going to reveal that? Since no one within the walls seems to know it(maybe apart from the Wall Cult), it is reasonable to assume that it will be someone from outside the walls : the warrior faction. So I am thinking that Eren is going to be reaching that Titan town and learning a few stuff. I am pretty sure his dad is from the Warrior faction.
I don't think the dad is from the warrior faction because it seems that faction doesn't care about mankind. perhaps rein/annie/bert attacked the wall was to force the "coordinate" inward, making their job easier to capture him. i think grisha stayed within the walls (prior to attack) because he wants to experiment/understand titans more or has some kind of hidden relationship with the higher authorities in government. i think grisha sides with mankind for the same reason he pushes his son to retake wall maria, learn the truth, in order to save mikasa, armin, and everyone else.
the warrior's enemies may be regular titan-kind itself and perhaps warriors are a small population which could be why they want grisha or something, in order to create more titan shifters to combat the regular ones. at least they can eventually control their titan forms if they become titan shifters as opposed to a regular titan who may take decades (is ymir one of them?) to gain control of their titan. this is where reiner's speech about the world (life within walls) having no hope and that ymir is better off allying with the warriors comes into play.
in regards to how, i think the truth behind grisha will be revealed when eren retakes wall maria/learns whatever is in the basement. then the next step will be to find his dad or w/e. grisha probably has a huge part of this story and i don't see him coming into picture for a very long time.
