Was Berik a shifter? Maybe R&B weren't shifter yet. Ymir said they believe the Ape Titan will help them to return to their hometown. It means he is the one who influenced their past, they have surely talked to him before. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the one who gave them their powers.
I'm pretty sure (like 99% sure) that Berik was a shifter as well.
It's implied Berik was a shifter, and possibly more experienced than Reiner or Bert were at the time, considering he protected them. Reiner also specifically refers to the trio as "short-lived mass murderers," so they may even be only as old as they look. That said, he might not be. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the things that have been implied so far get proven false (as long as there's a better explanation).
That make so much sense!!
Seriously, I can't believe I didn't see that...
You are totally right!
If Ymir would have attack them when they had their power, they would have at least shifted to try and kill her, instead of simply run...
So that means that, most likely, they couldn't shift back then...
That pretty much changes everything I thought I understood about the Titan Shifters...
As for Berik's purpose, I'm guessing he was an combat titan shifter, like Annie, and she was sent later on as his substitute.
I don't recall Ymir "threatening" Reiner in the latest chapter. She just followed after Historia at a slight distance, once Connie took her away (as she was fighting random titans).
Well, I said "last chapter", but I actually meant chapter 47
It's kind of a threat:
Why Reiner and Bert are cool with Ymir even though she ate their friend? If i were Reiner, i would kill her as soon as i get the ability to, unless there's a strong reason for not killing her.
