Great episode! I'm glad to see the new staff handled canon material so well. I really loved how they animated tuning, it looked really awesome, nice and dramatic. Tuning and the role of oyakume was very well explained, following the manga well. I can't wait for episode four, and the start of the Thorny Pass Arc.
It's kind of funny how much Ao fanservice they added. She had the least in the manga, but now gets the most in the anime
At the nyaa they are posting about it being lolicon even though she's 15
Yeah, they added a lot of Ao's FS, but who cares?
Anyway I really liked this episode and I'm glad, as you said Kaiten, that they adapted faithfully the manga.
Now I'm really looking forward to seeing the next episode.
Ao fanservice is the second best fanservice.
Kyousuke vs Akina was great. Tuning really looked good.
I'm really looking forward to the real action. I think the studio will handle it quite well.
Spoilers are out:

Swimsuits, swimsuits everywhere!
Ao's FS is becoming even more hardcore with each episodes. LOL
Anyway good episode this one and now I can't wait already to watch the next episodes, because I really liked thorny path in the manga.
Kohime and Hime are truly family. XD
Di you notice how the Ao fanservice vanished as soon as canon resumed?
Good episode, if a little boring. The filler was as dull as the chapter it replaced. I'm glad Thorny Pass is starting, now the series really gets interesting. I like how the filler references some of the unused (filler) chapters. Kotoha's German obsession, and love of karaoke. Everyone getting drunk this week.
Episode Five Spoilers:
Yeah what to say. They animated the cannon stuff quite well again and almost flawless this time. I really prefer the Anime versions of the characters... Hime looks so much cuter like this.
Looking forward to next weeks episode. Go Kotoha!
I also like the Hana no Uta character design a little more than the manga's. I like it more than Hoshi no Umi too. For whatever reason, Yasuda Suzuhito's art is really hard to translate to anime. Significant changes were also made to the character design for Drrr when that was adapted to anime. I do love Yasuda's art, I just like the Hana no Uta versions a little more.
Another flawless episode. The dragon spear and the train cannon looked amazing.
Pure quality till now. Although the show is 50% over and we only saw Thorny Road so far. One more episode to finish this arc.
Really looking forward to the next episode. It will be epic again.

That spear can transform huh? Did that happen in the Manga too at that point? Anyway it was a cool move.
Can't say much again. I really liked the animation of the battles again and it was great to see everyone trying to kill "Gin" out of pure hatred.
Looking forward to next week. Interesting that they'll animate that chapter too.
The introduction of Enjin was epic! He's such an incredible villain. I love the way they animated his transformation. I am wondering a little about the pacing. Episode eight will cover chapter 20 - 22, through the introduction of the Senate. That will leave only five episodes to animate (potentially) 27 chapters (23 - 50), if this season is going to end with Hana no Uta. They could leave out Hoshi no Umi, but that would be a little awkward. Since they started from the beginning, I imagine they're not going to skip arcs, they seem to be doing a full remake. They don't seem to be in a rush, either. Hopefully this is the first half of a split cour. This season could end with either Hoshi no Umi or Walking Pilgrimage, with another 13 episodes in the spring or summer ending with a TV broadcast of the Tsuki ni Naku OVA's. It would make sense. That would explain why the first disc of Tsuki ni Naku was not released in HD, and why they would start releasing an adaption (by the same staff) of volume 11 before the Thorny Pass episodes started airing.
Well, this was an awesome episode and en epic beating. XD
I was looking forward to watching Hime and all the others attacking Enjin with the rage in their heart.
Now, I can't wait to watch the next episodes.
P.S: Shinozuka singing Hime's song in the preview killed me. LOL
