Poor Tanba, he gave a cool speech and all and then... The various characters are really well used, it's one of the main force of this manga to me. I felt bad for laughing when he talked about stamina roll in a serious moment like that. Haruichi is getting less and less screentime .
Perhaps it is time for the rise of Kawakami, I for one am glad. well that isnt to say that Tanba deserved, but he was was the least of my favorite pitchers. Still glad it wasnt a brain injury
Great episode! I am hyped for the competition. I didn't know numbers wee so important in baseball.
Badumps made the seem rather interesting considering the places where I typically see them. Still really fast and fun take on the same manga content just making it more livelier with great use of music to make things a bit more dramatic such as team numberings, or having the humor done really well. though how does Eijun pass and Furuya had to retake it, seemed like the opposite of what Id expect based on their character type.
Also baseball without the Yamato theme playing is a bit saddening. Oofuri made games fun with having perfect songs for matches.
- 1st Base
- 2nd Base
- 3rd Base
- Short Stop
- Left Field
- Center Field
- Right Field
Furuya was flawless( and hilarious), Miyuki and Yuuki too. Finally Eijiun's determination paid, just when he was not expecting to play.
I hope he'll stomp them too.
Great adaption of chps 63 -65, even increasing the comedy value greatly. So pumped for Eijun's chance on the mound
Perfect timing! Games are starting right in time for real baseball season.
Furuya cruelly lacks stamina roll, it must be the first time I see Miyuki pissed.
I like that Shunshin, he is calm but burns inside. Sawamura will be the key to victory.

Really, everytime Sawamura is about to throw the ball I can't help but think "don't screw up" and they cut the scene...I guess he succeeded. Shunshin is still cool and now it's clear Furuya will get wrecked.
Akikawa looks like the usual main team you see in sports manga in general, I find them really likable as antagonist, it makes me want to see them win.
Finally Haruichi and his brother got a "true" discussion.
Confirmed for 52 episodes. There will be 13 DVD volumes, each containing four episodes. Volume one comes out in May 21. Diamond no Ace will not come out on blu-ray. Anime that air in the morning typically don't.
FINALLY SAWAMURA LOOKS COOL! DAT STARE! He screwed up once though but it was the funniest moment of this ep.
Too bad for Furuya but he had to face reality.
Next ep is a recap?

Raichi eliminated. Sawamura is such a great pitcher now , Miyuki got angry during a match for once, the episode was funny as well. Tetsu is still invincible, it will be interesting to see the difference between Sanada's moving balls and Sawamura's.

Moving balls contest. The most logical conclusion about Sanada's situation would be to think that he lacks stamina but I doubt
Sawamura is unstoppable and still hilarious. Kobayashi stole his battle cry , he will finally face Raichi, a face to face which promises to be hilarious.

This match is the most exciting so far. Raichi is a monster, Sawamura is truly shaken for the first time, it was nice to see the coach and Chris comfort him.
Tanba will enter at the end of the next ep I think.
The coach says some of the best things, though Eijun was going to cry but then this.
I was in the process of reading the manga along with the anime but decided to wait until this match is done, its so exciting that I love just being surprised with it.
batting average on balls in play lol.
Such a realistic series, maybe the most realistic sports anime I have ever seen. Raichi demolished that pitch. Only an elite hitter could have gotten to that, let alone muscle it out for an opposite field home run. Eijun's reaction was exactly how I'd expect a young pitcher to react. Even some experienced, MLB pitchers would get rattled after giving up a homer on that pitch. I loved how this episode just demolished sports cliches. A hard pop fly to the weakest fielder, taking him back to the warning track. Instead of the cliche catch, crippling Yahashi. Instead, Furuya has no play, the ball goes out for a home run, at the expense of the main character.
