YES!!! I like it!
Midora is actually Toriko's dad..
We don´t know yet.
On the first one shot Toriko had, his scars were given to him by a boar like beast as an adult.
However, once the actual series started running, Shimabu seems to have changed his mind and give Toriko his scars on the flashbacks as well. This might indicate he came up with a more interesting story for them.
That Midora had scars since the moment he was born doesn´t confirms every character born with GC has scars as well.
Time will tell.
He probably was, here he mentions that he was born as a "chain animal" or artificially tampered with being grown in a lab somehow:
Right before that tori mentions that Terry was JUST born with gourmet cells, and then says he was just like that
This heavily implies that toriko and all the four kings were grown with cells for some reason, like midora probably was (i.e. feed the pigs g cells, they get more fit for eating) then they became orphans for some reason, then fought in the gourmet coliseum when they were all younger. I'm sure there's a lot more to that story though.
they said that someone with scarred g cells has stronger ones due to them being "hardened" so yes, it would make sense that tori's cells are like that, like cedre said, in the one shot it was the barobison that scarred him, but we shouldn't go by that, until it's confirmed, let's just assume that yes, he has the stronger scarred gourmet cells and was born with his scars.
yes, cedre's right, tori had the scars as a kid: http://www.mangapanda.com/toriko/157/8

First of all. DON´T TRUST MANGAPANDA
NEVER TRUST MANGAPANDA
They have the shittiest translations ever.
Toriko never mentioned being born as anything. Toriko was a chain animal AFTER Ichiryuu found him as a child, and raised him.
He wasn´t born on a lab.
Are you sure about that? The way it was explained, it sounds like "chain animal" means something grown in a lab, but I suppose it doesn't say that someone can't be modified to kind of become a chain animal, though that isn't the explanation he gave. Do you know that tori was not grown in a tube, some kind of terrible experiment? That's really what it sounds like, even though it really hasn't been touched on much.
It was explained that the chain animals are beasts that are put to fight on the colloseum. Most of these beasts were genetically modified while alive, or hybrids.
When Toriko says he was also a chain animal, he only refers to the part where he used to be one of the creatures who fought/trained on the colloseum.
Toriko was even found as a child by Mansam and Ichiryu, it was in the Christmas Chapter.
And I thought Toriko was given Gourmet Cells sometime afterwards?, so technically the scars are from his normal Human Body and aren't the same kind as Midora's
@cedre- no, he explicitly says that "chain animal" means not only an artificial creature, but something that is very genetically different from anything naturally occurring http://www.mangahere.com/manga/toriko/c020/11.html
The term actually has nothing to do with fighting in the coliseum, they just often put chain animals there in addition to natural ones (quite cruel for the igo really) Tori says he fought in the coliseum separately, as an aside, though we don't know all the details.
@umi- Yes, it was shown that all four kings were "found" as orphans, but that doesn't mean they were born naturally to a mother and father, any number of things could have happened, i.e. them escaping, disaster striking the facility; any nation, group, the bishokukai or neo could have made them, it didn't have to be the IGO that made them.
and no, that's what we are trying to discuss, we don't know how, where or when tori was implanted/created/inherited with g-cells, but these things strongly imply that he was made with them, and that his three scars are "cell damage" like midora's six scars.
because Toriko is genetically different. He has gourmet cells. But we don´t know if he was born with them.
Ichiryuu might have taken Toriko because of his GC. We don´t know that yet, it is possible.
Also, I think the scars people born with GC might have, would be symmetrical (such as Midora and Starjun´s
About the scars, they probably don't have to be symmetrical http://www.mangahere.com/manga/toriko/c232/7.html Zaus' technique was probably able to do that to someone, after they recovered their offspring would have probably been stronger like midora's scars made him, the stress would have made setsuno's children's g-cells "battle hardened" if she had any after that point.
You know what, based on this theory wouldn't Teppei be immensely powerful because his grandfather is Jirou and (maybe) Setsuno, which would presumably mean his father had genetics and with his mother could have passed them onto Teppei? And he already had a scare so that means he's got the most potential of all?
