Sensei, Have you seen sophomore student, Mogi?
No, I haven't. But what's the matter?
I need to speak with him, so I told him to stay in the classroom, but he ran away...
Did Mogi-kun do something?
Well...He's free now, so I plan to ask him to go out with me...
To put it bluntly//Only his looks are good.
置く=to put, place, leave behind
とく=to do something in advance

Please don't separate 置く from とく, it's a colloquial form of 置いておく (setting aside).
My proposal is
Setting his bluntness aside, Only his looks are good. (literal)
I hope it helps you.
