http://newsmap.jp is a rather useful tool when you don't have the time to browse several news sites, but still want to get an overview. The colours make it easy to distinguish diffrent categories (bottom right) and on the top you can pick a country - and with it a language - for the news to appear in.
I've recently started reading Vox, an interesting, liberal leaning news website. Recommended for anyone interested in relevant, "beyond the headlines" stories.
My other favorite is Project-Syndacite, an opinion website featuring editorials from established figures in the spheres of politics, business, economics, and foreign affairs. Bill Gates, Jeffery Sachs, Michael Spence, and Christopher R. Hill have all contributed new articles this week.

Rocket News is a great place to find Japanese ephemera, including, but not limited to, anime news.
Just found this little gem: heatmapnews which can be helpful to visualize geopolitics if you don't have the geography in mind anyway.
Kudos to the op if he isn't lying. I really love reading the news too and I am pretty ljberal but I see innaccuracies all the time. Being a biased liberal, I try to read as many conservative sites as possible but I am human and I am biased so it is quite difficult sometimes and that is why the op deserve the kudos for trying to not ignore different sides. The only way to do that is to read everything with an open mind.
