Just read Magi, and it looks like Original DB with an arabian backdrop. (Although OGDB was influenced by a lot of things.) I try not to judge series based on their first chapters, because a lot goes into the beginings to keep interest, so I'm gonna wait to form an opinion on it. It does look if anything to be a solid adventure series. (I'm not gonna translate it though :-P I still have eyes for Lindbergh if no one does it.)
Misread your last post >.< My mind magically removed the not.
Something about Magi (the raws at least) rubbed me the wrong way. Can't say what, I'm just not overwhelmed by any desire to read it. I doubt it will be canceled quickly; it's by an established, if not famous, mangaka. A mangaka that defected from another publisher at that. They'll give Magi every chance to be a hit.
With translations I can just say stick with anything you enjoy, if there's something your working on out of a sense of duty, it's probably not worth continuing.
As for translations, I sort of want to drop Albatross, Aku and....*drumroll* Gintama. More after your reactions! :-P
Don't let me be the one to dissuade you; if your not interested don't keep doing it for the leechers. I love Gintama too, but I dropped it.
What really bothers me about Magi is the mangaka. Sumomowhatever was not a well written manga IMO.
I'm not really burnt out on Sunday yet, isn't nearly the first time this kinda thing's happened and I was in to them well before Trau and Hyde.
Though I'm getting bored with the mediocre-new-series-by-established-author trend.
I'll always enjoy Hayate and Kekkaishi, other then that there's nothing I feel compelled to read the second a new chapter is released.
Back on topic, I don't really like Hayate...but Kekkaishi's always good. I do like Acro enough to want to see it succeed, and although Aku is on my drop list, It is a genuinely charming manga. I just hope that they give Nakayama and other artists who got the cut another chance somewhere...sometime..
Onidere, Ocha, and Kongoh are the 3 I look forward reading in WSS.
Hayate and Aku are the two I'd read, but would be ok if I skip it for a few issues.
I'm ignoring the rest for the most part
I might follow Magi consistenly though, just because I enjoyed Sumomo back then, and the first chapter was fun enough to be enjoyable
Ocha is interesting, but not enough is in English for me to forma strong opinion.
