Welcome everyone, to the sign-up thread for collective reading shoujo & josei manga.
Before we go further, I want to introduce to you our project which is collective reading for shoujo and josei manga. This project is initiated with the purpose of getting more people to know shoujo and josei manga. This project will be done weekly; in each week, all of the participants will read few chapters of the chosen manga series and then discuss about the chapters they read in the chosen manga thread. This will continue until everyone finishes reading the series, and then a new manga series will be chosen and so on.
We welcome any participants who want to join this project. It's simple: anyone who wants to sign up just reply to this thread, stating that you want to join, and I will add your name to our list of participants. We really hope that once you sign-up, you will read along with us until the end of the session.
When you sign up, you can also give recommendation for what shoujo/josei manga you want for the collective reading. Each participant can only give one recommendation. If you do not choose to recommend any manga, that is also okay. Note that you can only recommend manga that is already completed, not too long, and belongs to the demographic of shoujo/josei.
The sign-up will be open until July 10th, 2014. After that, the sign-up will be closed for this session, and we will start voting for which manga we will read collectively based on the recommendations given.
I will post more information and the rules for the collective reading once the manga title is chosen. However, if you have any questions, you can PM me or phio-chan.
Let's have fun reading shoujo and josei manga together!

ah, still i nominate fruits basket. it's on ANN's top ten manga of all time ahehe.
I nominate Candy Candy, which is well-written and has a loveable cast of characters. (It's also one of my favourite manga of all time.) However, it's close to 40 years old so reading a retro manga right off the bat might not be a good idea and like a lot of retro manga, there are no distinctive chapters so to speak.
I nominate Hapi Mari
Happy to see this project take off!
I don't have personal suggestion as of now, I'll post if there is any!
I'd be interested in doing this, assuming it's going to start in a couple of weeks (I should be less busy then).
Anyway, Candy Candy and FruBa sound like good choices to me (haven't read them).
I'd also like to nominate Please Save My Earth. I enjoyed it, but it's been years since I've read it.
I wouldn't mind PSME and candy candy either. ^^ candy candy I remember watching as a kid... and PSME i wouldn't mind re-reading since I never had anyone to discuss it with and it's not your usual shoujo so...
I'm glad a lot of you are open to the Candy Candy suggestion!! I was worried that it wouldn't be of interest to people.
Since I haven't read many shoujo titles in a long time and even more so for josei, I'm also open to reading a series that I haven't read.
oh we can access the manga right? like, scans or something? if it's 40 years old?
here that are grouped by volume. The quality of the scans is what one would expect from an old manga though - i.e., not that great.
Count me in for this
But I can't really think of a manga to recommend right now
I'm in for whatever! There's so many good ones that there isn't any one particular one I want to suggest~
Reminder to all those who signed up for the project. Volume 2, week 2 is up for discussion if you like to share anything. ^^ link to the discussion thread: http://mangahelpers.com/forum/showth...99#post3840599
