A note before you read this. I really tried to make the content understandable but I’m not good at writing long texts in English. If someone has the time, please correct this and pm me^^ or post the correction here.
Kishimoto mentioned in his Interview from Databook 2, that the actual part of “Naruto” would contain romance.
What we have seen so far were the new feelings of Sakura for Naruto and Ino’s interest in Sai.
Sakura’s feelings are not very clear, because she has pity with Naruto and probably some feelings of guilt as well. It is more like feelings of a sister than of a woman she has for Naruto, though Yamato’s unfinished sentence from Chapter 297 speaks for love.
What about Hinata? Kishimoto seems to have given her some very short minor roles. Her manner in love and feelings played a bigger role in the first part and now this all is in the background of this story. We got to see just a little part of this.
Before I begin with my speculations, I want to show you a drawing of Kishimoto, he made before the release of “Naruto”.
With a closer look at this, you will see a connection between Hinata and Naruto.
Hinata’s feelings for Naruto seem to have gotten bigger. She cannot even speak to him in the second part, which she could manage to do in the first. (Kishi thought of puberty^^)
Before I continue, let us take a look at the society of „Naruto“.
Kishimoto showed us at the beginning of this story a society, which strongly depends on money (Zabuza Arc). Discrimination is not something depending on the skin color or a language, it’s the skills someone has. Haku who was nearly killed by his father is a good example for this. Another examples are the jinjurikis.
On the Chunin exams we get to know the history of the Hyuga. The maintenance of the clan needs offerings and estates of the realm, here we have the main and the branch family.
There are more examples but this is enough to show that Kishimoto wants to present different sides of the society problems.
So if Kishimoto manages to add romance, then it will be a little complicated. (He said himself, that it would be a little difficult)
I think sooner or later Naruto will react to Hinata’s feelings but what will follow after this?
He is a Jinjuriki, a lot of people hate him and in his society he is not even categorized as a human being. He is a monster who destroyed the village.
She is a member of noble family, who will inherit the whole clan.
Now it looks like Kishimoto prepared all of this from the beginning.
The reason for putting Hinata in the background might be that Kishimoto has a bigger role for her. The relationship between the two would hit a lot of obstacles. A monster, the lowest class in the Naruto society and a Hyuga, at the current time the highest class could not possibly love each other.
This is one of the society problems we had in the past and we have at the current time.
The romance he prepared will probably be another climax of this story.
I hope this was understandable^^
so what do you think?
edit: I think this should be added here:

i for once belive aswell that kishimoto has something on his sleeves. the reason why he made hinata shy and naruto stupid is because he wants to save their relationship for later(when naruto is not stupid anymore and when hinata wont be shy talking to him). i belive sakura is more like a sister for naruto even if he indeed said he wants her, but to the point atm we have no idea how kishi plans to end naruto. But for me, naruto deserves to have hinata in the end more than sakura. nice picture btw
Kishi has nothing else but suprised me throughout this whole manga.
Even the hiatus...they dont call it an unexpected gap for nothing. Kishi...you beauty.
Very nice reading but I want naruto to end up with sakura, not the creepy stalker who cant manage a word or two and is basically the same character she was before the timeskip...

I like the theory. It seems possible. Though I'm more towards the NarutoXSakura pairing. But still, I really can see that happening as well.
I think most of us see where this thread is about to go but f#ck it.
Sakura's goal is stated here
Sakura and Naruto relationship really is like a brother sister type. Ichigo and Rukia's relationship is very similar. Or let's take it old school with Dragonball (not DBZ) I wonder how many people thought Goku was gonna end up with Bulma.
Shouldn't all this talk be in the "Sakura or Hinata" thread? By the topic I thought this thread was going to be about the various "romantic" situations in the manga, not just be about Naruto and Hinata (or Sakura).
it isnt really supposed to be a naruhina or narusaku thread.
I was just wondering about Kishimotos statement to put more romance in the second part. And we havent seen anything serious until now. Then I thought about Hinata, she showed a lot of feelings in the first part and Naruto noticed a little part of this.(remember he said, that he likes her kind). There was a small developement but Naruto was just a kid, so Kishimoto might have prepared the rest of this developement for later, when Naruto understands the feelings. I mean puberty is something that really changes people and Naruto didnt even understand the sense of icha icha. Probably this was a sign that its too early for Naruto to love someone.
And please dont say things like "its a shonen" and dont compare this with other shonen like One Piece or DB. Puberty is something everyone has to experience and if Kishimoto puts in some romance than this would help to understand the guys(Naruto's age) and girls(Sakura's age), who have to experience this, the feelings they begin to develope.
well I said sooner or later and he already reacted to a part of this.
But what does Naruto like about Sakura? She is his first love and everybodys first love is based on the outer beauty. Hinata is special. her first love is naruto and she loves his inner beauty.
well this just happened in the second part and like I said she has a lot of pity with him and feelings of guilt.Quote:
Naruto will notice Hinata, like Sakura noticed Naruto. Probably the one thing she will be able to do for Naruto will be supporting the love of this two.
I agree with Kusachu. This seems like another NaruHina vs NaruSaku thread and little to do with romance and its possibility in Shippuden.
If it was about romance in Shippuden then where is the She Is Not My Girlfriend situation between Shikamaru and Temari? One of the oldest manga tricks to imply two people might get together. Or that code girl Shiho who looks to have been bitten by the love bug? What about Asuma and Kurenai? Whatever the heck Sasuke and Karin have going on? Tsunade and her feelings for Jiraiya? Konan and whatever feelings she has for Pain?
I didnt mention them because I was focused on the society problems and the absence of hinata who had a bigger role in the first part.
Like I said a monster and a noble would make a perfect story showing the problems we had in the past and at the current time.
I am in agreement with Kusachu as well. The only reason this thread has yet to be merged is that it looked to grow into something that could be a general discussion on romance or lack thereof in Naruto. The scope of this thread needs to start discussing more than just Naruto's love life, it will be merged.
The other pairings Spoonz suggested are a good start at this. Where do you think the other relationships in the story are progressing? The same thing you mentioned about Hinata's possibility of being a love interest in Part I diminishing in Part II can be compared to Temari's hints at being a love interest for Shikamaru in Part I. There seems to be a lot of this actually where someone seems like the prime love interest candidate in Part I and then someone else in Part II. Hinata in Part I and Sakura in Part II for Naruto; Temari in Part I and Shiho in Part II for Shikamaru; Sakura in Part I and Karin in Part II for Sasuke. What do you think of this trend?
Likewise, there seem a lot of former love interest plot lines reaching there end in Part II. Asuma and Kurenai were finally confirmed in Part II only for it to end. Just when Jiraiya seemed to be making some kind of progress with Tsunade, he dies and their love story never happens. Do you think that seems to be more of a tragic "end of love" theme going on in Part II?
These are things that could broaden the topic of discussion in this thread.
Well i think the pairing, if there is any, we be like this:
I'm not sure who Rock Lee and Shino will end up with. To speak the truth i don't really see adding too much romance to the manga, if any. The only romance will probably going to see is Naruto=Sakura.
