NaruSasu reminds me of a crazy theory I read some time ago...
If I am not mistaken, then in japan the first kiss with someone will lead to destined love with this person and naruto's first kiss was sasuke. But thats not all, Kishi's first romance scene contained haku and zabuza. And this "rescue a friend no matter what" is similar to "rescue your love no matter what" stories...
It's really frightening me...
though I'm not sure what kind of love it was between Haku and Zabuza...
Naruto wants sasuke, his friend back. I dont really recall naruto asking or babbling to sasuke about dates or anything, while naruto since early part 1 has been asking sakura for a date. Not really screaming "raging queen" IMO.
Plenty of stories have characters who are there, but that doesnt mean they will get developed. For instance launch from dbz was actually forgoten(or so I've heard) by toriyama; I bet many fans were disapointed about tienxlaunch never happening.
While naruxhina is not imposible, even random kunoichi #124363 seems to have a better chance than her...
As I wrote in another thread, I dont think naruto will suddenly get an epifany from hearing hinata's confesion. Naruto isnt deep enough t sudenly understand why hinata stalked him, so rather than saying "omg, that explains everything", he would probably be like "Wtf? where did that come from?". Still, I never liked the epifany thing.
Also, it is not like if sakura started noticing naruto since part two. Sakura started noticing naruto's growth and worth as early as the second part of the chunnin exam and defenitely noticed him after he won againts neji.
These are son far sakura's and hinata's view revealed so far about naruto:
Hinata part 1(since nothing has been said since then): Naruto has worked hard all his life, he is not weak.
Sakura: Naruto is strong, will help and protect him as much as she can, even if she cant do much. Has cried over the fact that she cant do much to help naruto.
Sakura has played a considerably more active part in naruto's development and clearly cares much more about naruto than hinata does.
On another topic, I think leextenten is a lot more likely than neji-tenten. Somehow I dont think tenten and neji are a good match...
^^Lee=Tenten? I don't know, i think Neji=Tenten is way more likely. Tenten and Neji are "always" training together.
What the match up i really what is: Chouji=Ino.
First, the couple has to have good reason behind it for character development. Take Ino with Choji. Ino is still portrayed as being shallow in Shippuden. Choji as kindhearted and loyal. Ino has brought up Choji's weight a few times. Now if Ino could look beyond Choji's physical appearence and see what a great guy he is, it would show a great amount of growth for her character.
Next is Shikamaru. He's the best developed kid outside of Team 7, but he still has one unresolved issue. He doesn't understand women. Temari was introduced as that problem he has to solve to understand them. Shikamaru and Temari also represent the physical bond between Suna and Konoha while Gaara and Naruto represent the emotional one.
The rest of the kids might only be paired because of Kishimoto's belief in the next generation. The whole theme of Shippuden has been the next generation and I believe he will want to show that Naruto's group will one day work on one of their own. Characters like Hinata and Tenten don't really need to be paired with anyone, but for this reason alone I believe they will.
Asuma and Kurenai ended in tragedy. Tsuande and Jiraiya were lost regrets. I believe Kishimoto will intentionally make the next generation's love lives a lot more pleasant and happier.
I dont think shikamaru has a particular issue understanding women or at least doesnt have that problem beyond that of any other regular guy. Shikamaru has been seen being very annoyed by some women though, although I dont think that would be a big issue once he actually likes one.
I still dont really see the tentenxneji thing. It is so wierd.... Somehow IMO it seems that tenten is a much better fit with lee. This is hard though, tenten needs some development...
Does anyone else feel ripped off having seen a glimmer of so called "romance" in the form of Asuma and Kurenai and not in any other character?? Doesn't it just get on your nerves?
This thread is about society and all, and I'm wondering, that the hell kind of society do these ninja live in where there is barely a glimpse at a normal couple in the story? We've seen the parents of Sasuke, Shikamaru, and Chouji...Naruto's parents for like a second? Is there anyone else?
I guess there was Sasori's parents too...
But really, come on! I understand that this manga is written for young boys and all, but still. The number of unreqetted romances is rediculous. They are young adults now, or are becoming so as the story progresses. If I don't get at least one good squishy love scene, or at least a lame attempt at one, soon, I think I'll slam my head into my desk a few times.
Has Kakashi even so much as looked at a woman? It's just a sad, sad shame. If he dies without having some kind of love interest, well...I'll be miffed. *sigh*
Shikamaru and Temari have a good couple progression though I guess. It is obvious that Temari is into smart guys...she's just not into lazy ones. I mean, it seems like the only thing keeping them from hooking up is Shikaru's pride, since she outranks him, which is probably why she teases him to hurry up and become a jounin. Out of all the potential couples in the series, I think I would be most dissappointed if they never hooked up.
Number 6 cracked me the f*ck up. Almost my feelings exactly, except mine would look like this:
6. Sasuke=Naruto Since it's the strongest bond of love in the series so far...except for the love between Itachi and Sasuke...

Yet, It can be quite suspicious that sasuke went straight at Naruto at their reunion at Oro's base. Doesn't it look like a hug? For someone who hates to be touched, it's quite amusing that he is the one that "initiated" the physical contact with naruto.
On a more serious side, I think that romance will be introduced later.
I hope that sakura will neither get naruto nor sasuke, because she's still a fan girl, she only has eye for the popular guy.
Naruto deserves better.
My feeling is that Naruto will find common ground with a female from some other village completely. Like how his Mom was actually from some other village. I wonder if Kishi will go into any depth explaining how those types of relationships work. I mean, will Shikamaru move to Hidden Sand because it's a pain to argue with Temari about coming to the Hidden Leaf? More to that point, can he work as a ninja for the Sand after leaving the Leaf? I think in any case, any sort of romance seems very difficult for anyone at this point in the manga. I think it might still be too early to predict the romantic underpinnings of this manga until another time-skip (if it happens) or if there is closure on one of the major arcs still running.
I think that pic was a fanart, sorry if I sound off...But I don't think Kishi would draw Hinata before actually starting the story. If you look at the pilot it is completely different and Kishi did not even think of minato as a father character, let alone Hinata...
Having said that, I think Sasuke also plays a major role in this relationship thing. discussing Hyuugas and societies is a bit odd in this context. for example, the noble clan thing; Uchihas were not only nobles but founders of the village yet the military part and the powers wanted them dead and respected them as you would respect a cockroach. Hyuugas were not founders, but maintain a high position but in our context infront of Naruto's heritage they are of lower class.
Also, if you see the manga since part 2, Naruto has grown to be loved and admired and as son of previous Hokage he is most definitely not the lowest class of Konoha/monster. Being treated bad as a child was a reaction of people's hatred, fear, bigotry and pain but now that he has become a defender and the Godchild of Godaime and Jiraiya that statment is false (that is treated bad or what not).
I have no affection towards Hinata and think she is a shadow in the story, therefor I do not believe that she can change anything for the better or add more depth to Naruto. This is not a Cinderella story and Hinata is not the prince that would save Naruto from descrimination . She has to save herself to begin with.
But hey, I respect your opinion
It certainly looks like a good match.
The pairing that would most probably be is ShikaTema, not only as bond between ow villages but also super intelligent tactictians, Also they have been (somewhat) flirting with each other and they have offscreen interaction time ...Those two are classic, as well as SasuSaku (which would be my favorite pairing, but I am open to NaruSaku)
That is why I see little or no point in a third obssessing party such as Shiho and Hinata...I would say the same for Karin, but she has proved to be useful time after time and she has grown on me. Chakra Sensor-Nins are the coolest.

It seems like romance isn't really gonna hit till some of the drama calms down. I like how the romance of Naruto and Sakura has slowly been being built during the rough times in the manga, but its getting to the time something needs to happen.
Maybe they get trapped together and have a romantic kiss or something. But I doubt any of that will happen till Sakura sees Sasuke again and has a since of closure.
I can't believe some people still think that Hinata is the one that will be with Naruto. And I still don't understand why anyone would want that pairing... I would rather Naruto hook up with some random chick from another village than Hinata. Besides, Hinata is going to get with Neji to keep it in the clan,
Shika and Temari are probably gonna hook up behind the scenes if they haven't already.
I agree with E-nat, that woman from the cloud village could be a good match for Kakashi.
Just read a nice Theory at NF by Ninigi Uchiha and thought id share it with some of you who haven't seen it yet ,Very good read, basically a theory on how Sauske and Sakura's child will marry Naruto's child.

Even if Kishi uses Japanese mythology, it doesn't mean that Naruto will exactly mirror the legends. We know in The Tale of the Gallant Jiraiya that Jiraiya was married to Tsunade which didn't happen in the manga. And that is just one of many examples.
Pretty good theory though. Usually pairings theories aren't that thought out.
I did my own back reading of the mythology, and Ninigi daughter marries Ryujin, not Ryujins son.
Did some more back reading... Went to good ol Wiki
So, actually you we're right, my bad...

That thread happens to leave out a portion that us somewhat unhappy.
"The couple lived happily for a while, then Ninigi grew jealous of Kono-Hana, and this jealousy drove Kono-Hana set a wooden hut that she retreated into on fire. The flames consumed her body leaving behind three baby boys, later the one named Hoori (Fire-shine), would go on to become the grandfather of the first mortal Emperor of Japan, Jimmu Tenno."
First of all, we are not even sure that Hinata will become the head of the clan. The way the clan is structure is based on lineage, first born, which is a common hierarchy in Japan and China (which I believe Hyuuga is more chinese themed). The change in the Hyuuga is that a clan leader will choose in a form of meritocracy; Neji.
Secondly, the latest chapter has shown that the village no longer thinks of Naruto as the village leper. There is not really a stark contrast between the lowly jinchuriki and the heiress to exist.
Third, I think he has shown a large contrast between Sasuke and Naruto that better represents how society treats on impressions before action. One who began with everything although he deserved nothing has thrown everything away to reach his goals. The other who began with nothing although he deserved everything has worked his way to his goals. Both suffer from hidden information about their fathers; information that can vastly shift perception. Imagine as children; son of a traitor vs son of a hero.
Fourth, Kishimoto has also stated he sucks at romance. I doubt that along with the genre it has would want a second "romantic climax".
