Dogashi was just a ripoff of Eyeshield with Basketball. This seems a lot better. I still don't think it has what it takes to survive though. It doesn't seem to have the same appeal as Meister. I have a feeling it's gonna be one of the first bombs this year. >_>
So... is anyone scanlating it?
My group is picking it up, I really like it so far.
Wow, with the translation i really enjoy it. Beautiful. And i'm glad that we'll be some group that scanlate it. Also I will do an italian scanlation. :-)
After reading a translation, I like this more than Meistar. The whole 6 amazing players thing makes it more shonen-like and more likely to stick around.
Meh....I didn't really like it. I find it rather hard to get into. The whole set-up just seems rather bland to me.
lol at the girl who was drooling.
Cool start. I prefer it to Dogashi's or Meister's, but it seems there is a lack of interesting supporting characters and the author cannot keep forever with the shadow thing.
I like the scenes where Taiga jumps to dunk or block. Good drawings.
new series... new series in WSJ... new basketball series in WSJ... ~_~
see where i`m getting at? it looks interesting so far, with the ghost thing and the super-passer... i`ll just have to wait for more chapters to come out... i don`t want to be slammed into a steel wall at 500 km/h, like what happened when "Mx0" and "Double Arts" got canceled...
overall, it seems that WSJ is getting tired of all the battle manga series and is trying to bring to the main stage some sports manga... i will just stand by and watch from afar this time... >_>
hmm.... this caught me off guard... it's got a brilliant first chapter. not the instant joy of meister, but it's like it's taken the tone of many of the cult/other manga and transferred that into a sports manga without overloading it with thoughts and text. simple yet effective.... i wanna see this go far too...
so 2/3 newbies so far have rocked.... this is disconcerting for me
I loved the second chapter. Kuroko coming out of nowhere all the time cracks me up, and Kagami and Riko are justawesome characters as well. And I got used to the art faster than I thought. And now we're told we're going to have a match against one of the big guys of the Generation of Miracles? Man, this is starting at full speed, it's like they learned from Dogashi's demise
yeah it truly seems as if the sports manga this year have learnt from the demise of..... everything (excluding p2, that rocked) in recent jump history. one's going straight for the jugular, the others going for amazing jump values.... tis a good time to like sports manga
If it continues this good, it will go into my top five sports manga as ES 21, Ookiku Furikabutte (whatever you spell it) or Ping-Pong Dash (funny series with a yankee playing ping-pong if you don't know).
The coach's personality reminds me of the girl in Dogashi. I bet WSJ staff decided to go with the same profile and it may be the only thing they keep from it.

Good second chapter. I'm glad that the whole SHADOW AND LIGHT thing isn't an ongoing thing. I'm sure this guy they're playing will serve as the Shin Seijuro of this series. Hopefully he's not as bland as Shin.
I like how Kuroko isn't really the main character, and Kagami could easily carry this series as a main character.
The only low point of the series so far is it looks like the only major players on the team are Kagami, Kuroko and Junpei. Everyone else is pretty much background players. I hope that they recruit other players similar to Eyeshield did.
Meister may have introduced their main players all at once, and honestly, they're all pretty lame. I think Kuroko has much more room to grow over Meister, and has a much more interesting concept, so I hope if any sports series has to go, it's Meister.
If I had to choose either Meister or Kuroko to continue in WSJ, right now it'd be Kuroko. It seems pretty interesting, it's different from the other Basket Mangas, like Cross Over and Dogashi and all those other basket series. I like the character Kuroko alot.
