I think most doujinka also don't want to attract unnecessary attention, this is why they hate it when their work is scanned or pirated.
In terms of why a mangaka/publisher would propose an otherwise ineffective ban, I think it all has to do with enforcing copyright on their characters and series. The copyright of fan arts sent to a tankobon corner become the publisher's even if the artist is only 10 years old.
Excellent news for Hayao Miyasaki's fan base: he is said to be working on a new samurai-themed manga comic set in Japan's "Warring States" period: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...-samurai-manga

ooooh. sengoku era would be an interesting setting for a Hayao Miyazaki...
Finally got around to watch that Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown Season 2 - Tokyo / Japan, nice seeing some cardfight, Haikyuu!! and even the yaoi section but the father of tentacle porn mangas? :/
Lawson will be launching a series of Shingeki no Kyojin themed Christmas campaigns, starting with a flyer of Shingeki characters delivering cake and presents:
Starting on December 10th, customers who buy three packs of Lipovitan D energy drinks will receive Shingeki no Kyojin glasses depicting either Eren, Mikasa, or Levi. More promotions will be announced next week.
I can't at the poster. Shingeki is as serious in tone as it can get, but non-readers/watchers will have a misunderstanding from the Christmas poster. (Armin's face... lmao)
I know there is a Lawson nearby, and I really wish the promotion be available outside Japan and yeah, Armin's face looks goofy in that picture.
This isn't Lawson's first campaign, or goofy poster. Over the summer they offered key chains, and other gifts, to anyone who purchased Shingeki themed snacks.
Speaking of anime and manga merchandises, I got some more stuff today. (incredibly awesome Karneval large calendar with awesome images, my favorite one even, official free fanbook and posters).

DeNA launched an app allowing users in 140 countries and regions to read 28 manga titles for free.
This is Google Play link. There's also an iPhone app but I didn't look that one up.
I don't think it's very smart to build apps for every little service and force a certain reader upon users but any new legit manga publishing on modern hardware is welcome.

Does anyone know where can I read the first chapter of Second Brain, the new manga of Jump SQ either raw of scanlated?
