I must say I am not covinced yet, mainly because the head of the region is caricaturally cruel and dumb. It is not interesting to follow what happens to him.
Another point is that I was waiting for an epic fantasy tale where the fates of Gods and humans are intertwined. The glimpse we have of the universe makes me think the background is more about political stuff with a group of revolutionaries. So, it is less appealing for me and I do hope surnatural things will appear later. But, if it remains with this direction, it will be tricky to have a good story.
I like the hero, but I am not sure that people want to follow a guy who seems depressed with shadows under his eyes, someone whose look brings negative values.
Giant swords are awesome (but seriously I did not understand the explanation about its ability to cut)
The rythm of the story was OK with some good jokes.
The art is incredible, especially the color double page.
Just read chapter 1. Seems up to snuff shounen-wise. Hopefully it continues to be scanlated. Well worth a try.
Im not really into the first chapter but I like his drawing. Im looking forward to chapter 2 and making comments after few more chapters

<----waiting for the translation
The first chapter was interesting enough to make me want to read chapter 2.
I absolutely loved the first chapter. Haven't read such a powerful, exciting chapter 1 since Air Gear. Taisou is exactly the kind of main character I like, and Suiren manages to be cheerful without being annoying. If the next characters are as likable as these two, this will quickly become my favorite series in WSJ's current lineup.
About the mayor shown in chapter 1, I agree that he's hard to be taken seriously, but... it's not like he's the main villain or something. His role was over when chapter 1 ended, so we won't have to "follow what happens to him" in the upcoming chapters. I'm pretty sure the actual bad guys will be a lot cooler than him when they do appear.
BTW, anyone else think the color page for chapter 2 is amazing?

I wanna read chapter 2, this manga started in a great way
I didn't know this manga is based on a famous Chinese book. I think I'll read as soon as I've got some free time!
I've read (wiki) that the book talks about the stories of the 108 guys, who act separately. What do you think will happen in the manga? Taisou will always be the main character or there will be other indipendent stories?
Isn't there anyone willing to keep translating this?
After such an awesome start, I'm dying for more, but it seems there won't be any translations for a while.
I'll do chapter 2 after I get my status as TL fixed (there was some debate about it a few weeks ago, and it still is getting cleared up). I'd just like to get that sorted, so there's no "pending" time limit on the translation
First thing that came to my mind after reading it: Epic and Hilarious. The main character's design reminded me of L from Death Note. The art style the illustrator used was godly and it caught my attention. I'm looking forward for the 2nd chapter. Oh and, I hope you get your TL license back asap squirrel. <.<
