Here it is the first time around with the bubble unfaded:
Second time, with the bubble faded.
Which is better?
So hardest parts were Syaoran's clothes and Sakura's hair, as always. xD I'm busy now but I'll post more of my thoughts later on it.
Kawaii!! You did a great job--I love using the superimposed background.
Haha. Thanks. Let me mention this is a work in progress still, because the lines around some of Sakura's head are iffy, so I'll still be working on that.
Are you going to post those screenshots PF?
Seriously, Sakura's hair was a royal pain. >< And finding the right colors, which still look off. And making the transparents parts of the thing that didn't get caught in the magic wand tool.
It will be better when its completley done, I'm a perfectionist. I'm just busy right now, so it could be weeks before I even opened the file again. xD
I figured I would try something new and this was it.
Oh! Yes, I'm sorry I blanked. I'll have them up in a jiffy.
Oooookay! At long last, here you go. :-P
You can do, for one thing, one of two things. You can layer too copies of the same image, color one of those images all the way a sing color you want done, and then erase the top layer appropriately so that they color only appears in the right places, or you can select portions of the picture and color just that.
I usually do the second, using this "lasso" tool.
You can use this tool in two ways. You can just drag it and draw the boundary you want, like you would a paintbrush, or you can click at key points along the boundary, like this:
I personally prefer the dots for two reasons. 1-It's more accurate. Along curves, the line between two dots usually curves with the path you're following if it's, for example, the character's outline. 2-the dots are move-able. So if a portion of the line you are drawing isn't quite right, you can alter it before you close off the loop.
Anyway, you select all the area you want to color. In this case, because Syaoran's hands are covering his mouth, I was conveniently able to box all his skin color except a liiiiitle piece above his eyebrow, in one go.
Next I just go to Tools and Colorize.
Then just eyeball the shade I want. (This actually isn't the color I'd go with, but I just wanted to get something up for it, so excuse his sickly pallor.

Okay then. When I can...I will try to do that with the one you linked me earlier.
Dear god, where can I find a GIMP tutorial pertaining to anime/manga. xD
EDIT: OMFG. Is there like...a MILLION THANKS button I can push for you? I just did your directions. OMFG. In five minutes of goofing around and trying it out, I got done huge parts like Syaoran's outfit and Sakura's hair and dress. Those usually take me hours. I really am speechless and and so happy you told me that!

That's an interesting way to do it. I've actually never thought of that! xD What i do is I make a new layer for each part of the character. But one at a time of course. Like the first thing i always like to get out of the way, is the hair..plus it's also one of my fav parts to color ^^ So i make the new layer as soon as the pic loads up in Photoshop/ImageReady (I use both). Then I set the brush to "Multiply" and reduce the Opacity to 70. Then I color it in just freely, not caring if I go out of the lines xD Then I set the layer to "Linear Burn" on the layers box, and it comes out filled in solid and more smooth-like. Then I get the eraser tool and eraser the mess I made going out of the lines and voila! I get these:
Awww. Princess Sakura, great job.
Thanks to PF's screenshots, I now have a new way to GIMP. Note, had I done it the way I used to do it, this would have taken me at least three days if not more.
Tops this time...2 - 3 hours.
I just put the Syaoran Sakura quote up because I wanted too. xDD
Seriously though, if anyone has a cool way to do backgrounds, please tell.
I am much more proud of this one.
Can u tell me how 2 donlod GIMP??????
Brilliant! I love both of your sets--awesome work! And you're totally welcome, SilverSakura.
PrincessSakura, just a question of curiosity: is there any reason you like your Sakura images to have her portrayed in blue?
Clamp_Sakura, I'll get a link for you to download The Gimp from.
Ok, after mucking around with the background for a LONG time (again) I've finished 2nd-colouring-ever.
Argh it's really big there. Oh well.
Seeing as everyone else seems to be, I might try and use GIMP instead of photoshop, just to experiment. Although photoshop is fun, what with the zillions of effects.
Loverly! Hi, C!Syaoran--why, aren't you looking fabulous today.
As for GIMP vs Photoshop... They're fairly similar. But the GIMP is freeware and Photoshop costs moneyz or a whole Macbook (which is also code for moneyz), so Photoshop has more features with that financial backing. BUT they're features I basically never use, and what features it shares with Photoshop, I think it does just as well as Photoshop. So I use the GIMP.
ETA: When did I hit 100 posts?! O.o
Ok. Well my dad installed a ton of applications nd stuff on my computer when I got it, so I got photoshop, and the rest of the adobe stuff. I never use anything but photoshop though.
Omg with that pic, I was messing with channels on photoshop, and when I turned off red and green he looked like seishirou crossed with kamui. It was CREEPY.
CLAMP_Sakura, once you get the GIMP downloaded, I'm sure I or PirateFiend would love to help you out.
Pirate Fiend 'Hi, C!Syaoran--why, aren't you looking fabulous today.' That made me laugh.
@Shirubia, one word: WIN. I love the detail on the flame of his sword. So cool.
With the whole Photoshop vs. GIMP thing, I know a LOT of people use it because its free, and its pretty good to use. Now that I'm learning more about it, its very fun.
Hhaaaa. Comment about mine. I had worked on it for the two or three hours, and when I was just about done...I was closing windows, and then all of a sudden it vanished. Now I have a penance about not saving my work until I'm done working on it. The only thing still up was my yahoo, and the toolbox for GIMP. I clicked onto my GIMP and thank GOD it came back up. I was so scared I saved it right away. LOL.
OHH. One more thing, can someome refresh my memory about some cuter scenes in TRC? I want to color more. Syaoran, Sakura, whatever, its fine. Maybe the part where he grabs her hand. YAY. Or I'm thinking about doing the part from the latest chapter.
Lied. One more thing. xD Once my best friend saw what she can do, she was all 'KuroTomo? PLEEEEASE.' There isn't that many Kurotomo parts, but if theres a cute one anyone remembers, do tell.

Clamp_Sakura, relax ^^ Its fine. We're all pretty chill.
I mean, I was complaining my head off about GIMP until PF taught me. (Thanks again! xD)
Anyways, here where I downloaded GIMP: http://files.uberdownloads.com/apps/gimp/index.php
I don't know where PL did, but this site was 2.6 if I remember correctly.
And of course we'll help get you started. xD
I'm working on something new BTW.
