very surprised FT isnt in the top four but i guess uchuu kyoudai and hxh bumbed it out of the list with their new anime adaptions. also surprised to see kuroko so high up on the list but that just means the anime is doing its job really well.
Totally understandable that One Piece has returned to a more steady pace of growth instead of the exponential one it surprised everyone last year. It's still a bestseller among beststeller and a mammoth of greattest caliber.
Also, fantastic job, Uchuu Kyodai. Now that's some well deserved recognition.
It's only been 5 months, not exactly "half" of 2012. Also various series have had fewer new volumes out than others because of that. As well, some have fewer volumes per year, so sales are more clustered in this part of the year. So that top 10 favors those series somewhat. I've thought it's been really under-appreciated generally. Also, Bokura ga Ita and Bakuman both ended (Bakuman's last volume comes out I think next month) and HXH doesn't look like it's having another volume out this year, or at least until the series restarts which could be later this year, possibly. So the "full year" will be somewhat different. It'll also depend on how much the booms from the anime have made make an impact in the long-run.
But still, it's great to see Uchuu Kyoudai doing so well. Makes sense based on the movie and the anime. And I'm glad to see Kuroko doing well, too.
Also, good to see that Toriko's volumes are selling over 400K now. Jojolion as well. I'm hoping the big promise they've made for the finale of the Jojo Anniversary project with be some sorta anime. But the campaign has certainly helped sales so far.

anime boost sales after all^^ HXH, Kuro and Uchuu Kyoudai all got a boost thanks to the anime.
OP dominant sales is no surprise at all but overall sales went down a bit in comparison with the last 2 years still the gap with the rest is still ridiculous.
If anime did not ever boost sales, why would anyone bother? Nominal licensing fees

Looks like Bleach got screwed by the timing this year (again); vol 55 is coming out in 3 days. If the rankings had taken place one week later, the extra 300-400k in sales probably would've landed it on the series list.
Like I said, the 6 months grouping causes more outliars and deviations. Like, Kuroko will probably do well this year, because people bought the whole series when the anime came out, but from volume to volume it doesn't sell as much as a lot of the other top-sellers. And HXH just had a new volume and a new anime, though the movie may help is as well. Various things like that, so a yearly total would give you a better idea of overall popularity.
The "best seller by series" lists really are not a good measure of popularity, the yearly charts are not that much better than the six month. Sales leaders are still heavily weighted towards manga that had a temporary boost in catalog sales. After the first two movies came out 20th Century Boys became ninth best selling title of 2009. While a popular series in it's time, 20th Century Boys ended in 2007, there had not been a new volume in almost two years. Needless to say it did not chart again in 2010. Long term sales for individual volumes says more about popularity than total sales.

29, **,828,231 Gantz
30, **,821,173 Giant Killing
Huh, Gintama's only 12th? I guess Toriko really is on the rise, though a new anime will do that for you. I kinda wish Beelzebub was a little higher though. Also, a round of applause for Nichibros. It really deserves the sales push it got from that really awesome anime. Here's hoping for season two!
Nice opening week for 'I am a Hero', I'm looking forward to reading volume 9. Also nice to see the delightful 'Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui!' approaching 100,000 in sales. One of the funniest, and most mean spirited, comedy manga I have read in a long time.
Love Stage, Boys Love reaching top 30 on the second volume is nice. Gonna check this manga one of these days.
Kadokawa now has 4 boys love titles able to be in top 30 in the first week. I'm happy for that.
ZE - Kami no Hon, also boys love, but so far the info i got is that this is an art book. Strange cause it's selling the same as the manga used to sell. I'd expect less.
And volume 5 of ZE manga is gonna get a live action.
