It was a pleasant reading. The way the text was crafted created a feeling of imersion I can't describe, it was like I was Ooki himself. Of course, I must congratulate cnet for a awesomelly professional translation!
I think Ooki is a nice character, but Akari downright rocks!!!
Wow, wasn't expecting entirely new characters at the fore-front.
Both Ooki and Akari are excellent additions to an already interesting and unique cast.
As far as the art is concerned, I am aware that the artist was responsible for No More Heroes, but I think the job of capturing the Gantz mise-en-scène.
The text is engaging and allows for full immersion into the story, something you hardly ever see in these light novels.
I'm excited for the next chapter.
I really hope someone picks up the task of scanning/translating these for all of us.
Cnet, thanks for the hard work!
It was a rivetting read, for sure! I really kiled Ooki and Akari! Can't wait to see more of them.
I'm wondering what happens to the cast that's in the novel until the start of the manga. I mean, in the onion alien mission the only veteran there was Nishi and he (apparently) hasn't appeared there yet...or at least he's quiet in the corner somewhere.
I can't wait till they get to that mission where Izumi gets 100 points. I forget what he called it, but it was apparently one hell of a fight they way he was remembering it.
I get the feeling that Minus is going to be running for quite some time, alongside Gantz, of course.
Judging by the pacing and length, I'd say Minus could go on for 1-2 years, or possibly longer if the editors see Minus is selling more magazines.
They'd simply tell them to draw the story out more, or flesh it out further with more backstory or something.
I'm liking Minus more and more now that I've actually read it, instead of my initial weariness.
Also; anyone notice how similar this mission seemed to the Onion mission?
Small alien gets killed; bigger alien appears and gets angry/upset.
Yeah I'm feeling the same way. At first, I thought it would be jsut some way to kill time till Gantz started back. I wasn't even sure if I would like it that much.
But now that I have read it, I think this is something I could get really into. The characters are likable in the regular Gantz sense.
Hell, the art isn't anywhere near as bad as some people were saying it would be.
All in all, I'm really excited bout the next one.
OH I liked it,finnaly something to read in a Gantz chapter,I loved it Ooki sounds like a nice guy,Akari is really hot, seems like there was no Nishi in that room,I just hope they will be mentioned in this novel, cause that is the main reason why I wanna read it,I would read it anyway, but I just want to find out more about Izumi and Nishi
It is possible, that he was in the crowd, because he was newcomer, like the main guy O (can't remember the name, lol). He wasn't mentioned, but judging by the picture he was there.
Anyway you are right saying he might have been in the room. Maybe he was one of those guys wearing suits that were mentioned; he just didn't say anything. We have to remember that he rarely (if any time at all) tries to warn newcomers about anything.
I think Nishi is the dude crouching in the middle like a little pussy in front of the "new" gantz tokyo crew. It sorta looks like him with the uniform only a little bit uglier. And yes the novel is paced well and very interesting. I can't wait for Izumi.
The RAW I translated from is up here (I believe the link appears on the translation page as well). It does have a couple of illustrations, yes.
