Tried a new sushi place tonight and was quite impressed. I got a chef's choice platter to sample the menu, included: sake (salmon), tai (red snapper), saba (mackerel), maguro (tuna), hamachi (yellowtail), ama ebi (raw shrimp), hirame (flounder), kani (cooked crab leg), and four California rolls. All nigiri with the exception of the California rolls. The chef was outstanding, the fish was cut perfectly, the rice was well pact and easy to eat. The fish was very fresh and cut to order. The drawback to chef's choice is that given the choice I would never order kani or saba. The hamachi, maguro, sake, and tai were particularly good, I will definitely get them again.
Since we had nothing but butter bread and eggs I decided to make something I read about once being a "Frog in a hole" where you cut out a circle in the bread butter it and then crack an egg open in the hole when frying it. It was pretty good but I think I should have looked up the recipe and not gone from memory cause it tastes like something is missing!
I baked crunchy peanut butter chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. Since my brunch was milk and cookies, I'll try to eat something healthier for dinner.
I had ham and cheese pasta bake with some salad on the side(lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions and salsa salad). Just wanted something a bit different for lunch today as I'm constantly having chinese or some sort of meaty dish( chicken )
mikkih - those cookies sound yum! I really love cookies made with oatmeal. They're always so much better.
So far, I didn't have a super healthy day either. At about 10:30, I had leftovers from brunch yesterday: bacon and banana pancakes topped with a warm praline sauce. It was soooo good that I couldn't let the rest of it go to waste, but I've already decided this is the last heavy meal I'm having until I go on vacation at the end of the week. So, until then, bring on the salads!
Tiff that leftover food sounds so and so do the cookies mikkih!
Sounds like Tiff had a feast I am lazy and I often buy pre-cooked bacon, so that I don't need to clean up the grease in the kitchen. I often use bacon for my BLT.
Now that I see goldb's Totoro being back, I wish I made Totoro instead... I only made cats, and don't know why.
edit: Did I say, I often use bacon for my BLT? Well, without bacon it's just LT, isn't it?

I did have a feast. This is what the pancakes look like (not my plate - stole the pic from yelp). The bacon is in the batter
Looks more like a huge dessert than breakfast, doesn't it? I ate about half for brunch yesterday and the rest today. I've been in a sugar coma ever since. I'm pretty sure my body is craving vegetables.
Tiff, that looks soooo good!!!
I made eggplant Parmesan, looked delicious, smelled delicious, tasted not so delicious...
I just bought some mochi from Trader Joe's~ (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

14 Juillet, 99 rue Didot Paris, a really good address if you pass in the area someday.
Today i attended theTaste of Cape Town. I ate Sous-Vide ostrich, spiced gooseberry pickle, almond crumble. It was actually tasty.
Here's an awesome blog to follow: Skinnytaste
On a superficial level I love the photographs of the finished products; they all look so appetizing. The recipes themselves are easy to follow and provide a clear indication about how many calories, carbs, fats, fiber and protein there are in a dish.
I made Spaghetti with Sauteed Chicken and Grape Tomatoes. It was too garlic-y for my family, but I love garlic so I didn't mind at all.
