Yeah, I know it's in Evening. I was saying it doesn't have the titles that Afternoon has, that's all. No idea what circulation is for the Kodansha trio, but Afternoon always seemed the most popular.
And yeah, not sure about the magazine raws, should have clarified. If it was someone unknown behind it and not Oka and Yamamoto, then I'd doubt it'd get much attention.

I suppose so, yeah. Afternoon has better name recognition online. Probably the result of four or five manga. It's more of a hipster magazine. Ah My Goddess, Vinland Saga and Historie are not the norm, for Afternoon (Musishi and Blade of the Immortal are closer) Morning and Evening are the more mainstream magazines.
For anyone interested, there is Japanese manga variety program, called Mandou Kobayashi, has presented their own manga award for 2013. BUT, this award is mostly decided by Kendou Kobayashi (MC of the program; popular comedian in Japan and well known for manga/anime otaku) himself, so this awards doesn't really have much power and recognition on the manga industry......I think.
So, here is a list:
Tsuini Kanketsu Shou (this award is for series that serialized long time and finally ended on 2013):
- Mugen no Juunin from Afternoon
Ore wa Sukidatta Shou (this award is for series that axed early but Kobayashi enjoyed it):
- Cross Manage from Weekly Shounen Jump
Kitai no Shinrensai Shou (this award is for series that started on 2013):
- Yankee Juku e Iku from Weekly Young Magazine
Best Supporting Male Character Award:
- Chan to Mario (characters from Tobaku Datenroku Kaiji Kazuya-hen from Weekly Young Magazine)
Best Supporting Female Character Award:
- Yachi (character from Haikyuu!! from Weekly Shounen Jump)
Best Hairstyle Award:
- Higashikata Joushuu (character from Jojolion from Ultra Jump)
Best Surprise Award (this award is for the character that brought biggest surprise to the readers):
- Uumen Umeda (character from Toriko from Weekly Shounen Jump)
Toriaezu Mada Yondenai Shou (this award is for series which is popular but Kendou Kobayashi hasn't read yet):
- Marmalade Boy Little from Cocohana
Imasara Hajimete Yondara Omoshirokatta Shou (this award is for series which is seriazlie for long time, but Kendou Kobayashi recently started to read and he enjoyed it):
- Glass no Kamen from Hana to Yume
Sorosoro Rensai Saikai Shite Kudasai Shou (this award is for series which Kendou Kobayashi wants to resume):
- Hunter x Hunter from Weekly Shounen Jump
- Kingdom from Weekly Young Jump

Giant Killing player card set from Bandai. Illustrated by mangaka Tsujitomo, retailing for ¥7140. Includes 72 cards, a storage binder, 20 stickers, and a special serial code to use players in the Panini Football League online game.
Is Giant Killing that big of a franchise or its just because?
I hope Haikyuu!! gets such merchandise treatment, Id buy.
It's popular. Don't forget that popularity is not an on/off, binary designation. The manga industry is massive, earning ¥270.70 billion (roughly $260 million or €191 million) in 2013. 494,116,000 volumes of manga were released in 2013. There are a lot of different levels of popularity, and a lot of manga marketed at specific niches. Popularity has never been the simple, linear, sales based hierarchy that is discussed in the Oricon thread. It is heavily nuanced and highly varied. There is a lot of space below One Piece, and a lot of different manga that appeal to a wide variety of people.
Giant Killing and Haikyuu are not marketed towards the same audience. Giant Killing is written with readers in their early 30's in mind. They are not really analogous. Haikyuu probably has a nice amount of merchandizing already, as a successful Jump manga. You could probably find something by searching Amazon Japan.
