Yeah, about Miura's comment... Evil_Genius apparently mistranslated - a rare occurence, I should think. The guys over at SK.net have since cleared up the mess, however, and translated it as follows:
Basically, this is completely unrelated to any Berserk anime, in production or otherwise.Originally Posted by Kentarou Miura

Know what? I'd like a second opinion on Miura's comment (or third, as it were). Here's the kanji:

SparkHunter13, the translation you posted is correct.
It doesn't say cancelled, it says "destroyed" (weird uh?). I asumed he was talking about one single anime, the berserk anime...but didn't said the name cuz there is nothing concrete yet.
But anime in general also works.
Yeah, the way that's written it means "animes with a fighting hero". It doesn't say anything about Berserk or say "canceled" or anything.
"It's been like this a while, but animes with a fighting male protagonist are mostly annihilated. I think there's still some demand for them, though."
The word "hotondo" "mostly" should make it clear. If anything, he's hinting there WILL be a new Berserk anime, in my opinion. As this IS a manga about a fighting male protagonist.

Wow I had no clue he was on a pace of less than one chapter per month, that is downright horrible.
@ GAT & kewl: Thanks, guys.
So, SK.net were right after all. I imagine it was the awkward wording that led to EG's misinterpreting... Then again, even the wording was addressed by SK.net (according to them, "destroyed" is intended to mean "dead", as in "not popular"), perhaps it was simply a lazy translation by EG...
No big deal, though; these things happen from time to time. EG are still head and shoulders above the rest, as far as scanlations are concerned.
great stats, i was lazy for years to do this 20min job, thanks !
Since we've gone almost completely off topic I'd like to enquire as to whether there will be another anime done up for berserk. I've searched high and low and have never seen anything that would lead me to believe this is fact. If anything has something concrete please post it. Unlike sparky i'd love a new anime. I remember reading/hearing/something that the reason Miura stopped the anime was because he couldn't make the anime the way he wanted and intended. He was forced to finish the anime because he was on contract and swore he'd never do it again. Prolly some of the same reasons why he continues to do all the work himself on berserk's manga. Like someone said it comes to no surprise that it sometimes takes miura several weeks to finish a release. I've posted on how I feel about this matter before but I don't really feel like getting another infraction so Im not going to express my view. However I will state that if he does do up another anime I think that this would light a fire under his ass and get him to work a lil faster.
As to why there won't be. I don't think its because of sporadic releases more than the content of Berserk is so graphic and adult at times that it would be excessively difficult for them to stay true to the story.
