Bob, Lampard said he'd take a big paycut and take whatever playing time Chelsea would give him, but Roman apparently said no regardless.
It's sad to see that Roman doesn't seem to appreciate or understand the loyalty Lampard is showing to his club; you don't very often see this in modern football. If I recall, he had the chance to move elsewhere during his time at Chelsea but chose to stay there instead. I actually see him retiring if he doesn't get something from Chelsea .
Who wouldn't go to play for the LA Galaxy when your time in the better leagues is apparently at an end? It's definitely the most glamorous team here.
I would go where the money is, the middle-east or China.
Actually, Lampard was willing to take a salary as low as 50k a week in order to stay at Chelsea, but Roman said no to that. I don't think that Lamps cares that much about the cash as he's been earning 150k a week for a long time.
I mentioned it elsewhere, but here's an interesting piece of Barcelona and La Masia
(Not sure if it can be viewed internationally, but I couldn't find it anywhere else )
Avoiding all of that, is there a Premier League team that you support, Gary?
No. My fandom is locale-based. Without some sort of attachment to a team, I can't really be a TRUE fan. I like watching for players, and I always enjoy an underdog having success.
So my question for you is why do you support Chelsea?

More about La Masia and efforts here in the US to maybe replicate it
I support France because of Zidane and I still support them, regardless of what happens or whether he's there anymore. It could be that the American commentators represented Brazil as the Evil Empire, but I just liked France's style and attacking verve, and that's been since 97.
