Remember right afrer itachi and kisame visited konoha?
when itachi and kisame both recognized jaraiya and that he was escorting or guarding naruto
they both seemed cautious and kisame admited he couldnt beat him and itachi said they would both wind up.dead if he fought jaraiya
do you guys think itachi and kisame were being modest or actually worried about losing to jaraiya?
Who knows. If you expect to have an objective answer to this kind of question , then forget it...
Just take it as it is.
If we take Part I alone, then there's a good chance they were serious. If we take Part II as well, then the chances are that they were either lying or it was only Kisame who thought he'd lose to Jiraiya. Note that when they were running away, Kisame said Itachi could have beaten Jiraiya. A lot of people tend to overlook or ignore this statement for some reason, but even in Part I Kisame thought Itachi could take on Jiraiya, even if he himself couldn't .
Based on what we saw in Part II though, there's no reason to believe Itachi would have lost to Jiraiya. Kisame might also be able to beat Jiraiya because Jiraiya is a ninjutsu user, and Kisame absorbs chakra from ninjutsu.
Kisame said Itachi could have taken Jiraiya on, meaning he had a chance of winning. I still recall Kisame implied Itachi would have won, but at the very least he said Itachi would be able to stand toe-to-toe with Jiraiya.
But include Part II in this, and Itachi most likely would win.
Hard to tell since we didnt get as good a demonstration of Jiraya's strength as we did of Itachi and Kisame, but at least for a fact we can say that Kisame didnt want to fight J-man, and since Itachi was probably Jiraya's spy he'd look for any excuse not to fight him.
First of all Itachi would have to use MS if he wanted to win against jaraiya, even if he won he would have be blind, secondly We saw what happened to one of Pain's body when he absorbed Naruto's sage energy ... If I had to pick someone to counter Kisame's abilities it would be Jaraiya, a frog user with frog summons...
Kisame asked that why is a retreat necessary for him. It's obvious that Kisame thought that Itachi could take Jiraiya out even at that time.
i believe jaraiya in sage mode would have a shot at either one of them
without sage mode kisame eats up his chaakra and takes him out
with sage mode itachi or kisame could still take him but the fight would obviously be much different
its also possible that itachi wasnt as strong then as he was in part two
same goes for kisame
they could have both just been going off of legend and rumors, not.having seen jaraiya in action
in a fight i give either of them the edge against j-man
with itacho having slightly more edge
but jaraiya is somewhat underrated on here
we must remember how strong he is
if he played his cards right he may evwn be able to beat itachi
But I think itachi clearly admitted that he's low in chakra at that time. He already used his tsukuyomi to kakashi, and he shouldn't used that amaterasu either. So either way, itachi has no chance to defeat jiraiya at that time. And itachi knows that. Fighting a sage mode sannin is just a suicide for him who already used too much chakra.
But still, I do agree that itachi can defeat jiraiya, but it goes the same to jiraiya.
Hermit mode jiraiya is one of the dangerous ninja in naruto, from my POV. Their combination attack and genjutsu are far too great.
Kisame : even if you might be able to take him on.
It seems to me that kisame is just assuming that itachi can defeat jiraiya.
First of all way to put words in itachi's mouth. He never uttered those words. He was just being cautious and righfully so. It wasn't urgent that he and Kisame had to take naruto. Furthermore, he'd already used his MS on kakashi and sasuke. He was probably drained and exhausted.Quote:
