Well, the wind waker is the only zelda game I have played in which I have found it impossible to actually die. You get way too much HP way too early and enemies barely deal any damage at all. The battle system is incredibly well made and from a purely visual point of view its perhaps the best out there so far (SS was more fun to play and more complex but I never felt either it or TP came close to WW from a visual point of view) however with that there was the scenario that no enemy in the game actually had a shot. In TP when you rank into 3 iron knuckles the only reasonable attitude you could have was along the lines of "Ahhh, fuck". In WW running into 3 iron knuckles meant "Ok, I am just going to press A and pretend I am Houdini making them disappear. Or use the light arrow and BE Houdini". The other zelda games are not necessarily difficult to win but WW was way beneath them in the difficulty department. I guess the only really hard zelda I have played so far is SS in hero mode though.... and the original water temple.
Dorkly has posted their list of the best ten Zelda games voted by their readers.
Meh I call the shenanigans on this pool
What would your top 5 be?
As a guy that only finished Majora's and has that game in his... top10 favourites of all time, I understand why Oot is 1st, that game was revolutionary, same with a Link to the past.
I've mentioned this to multiple people before, but honestly, I think OoT is overrated. I could never get into it when I played it, to me there never was that draw power which brings me into games. Twilight Princess, LttP, and a couple of the Hand held games did that. Also, OoT seemed really slow paced to me and often left me to wonder, "What the hell do I do now?" In a lot of the situations.
I agree in that being revolutionary is not the same as being the best. Games only get to be revolutionary once so by that logic no zelda game could ever conceivably even come close to OOT. While OOT was completely revolutionary and made the genre, TP had everything which was awesome about OOT and more. Rvolutionary? Not in the least. Perfect? Hell yes.
Ocarina of time is hands down the best Zelda game and in my opinion best game ever made.
= the feeling of just watching the opening cinematic of OoT
