The Dexter Discussion Thread
During the day, Dexter Morgan is a jovial employee in the Miami Metropolitan Police Department's crime lab, but his meticulously crafted life masks his true nature. In reality Dexter is a disciplined and murderous psychopath (a self-admitted "monster"), and he slakes his blood lust at night by carefully killing the serial killers he tracks down during the day. Based on the novels (Darkly Dreaming Dexter, Dearly Devoted Dexter and Dexter in the Dark) by Jeff Lindsay. - IMDB
So this the place where all fans of Dexter can come and discuss their favorite serial killer! Its now on its fifth season airing on Showtime on Sunday nights. All the episodes and any season of Dexter can be discussed here. Hope that there are many other fans out there and so that we can get some good discussion going here.
And remember....Don't forget the code!
With season 5 coming up, I thought I'd make a discussion thread for my very favorite mass murdering sociopath.
Any Dexter fans in the house??
I don't think there is anyone I know who watched last season and wasn't completely blown away by the death of Rita. It was tv drama gold!! I always hated her too, and for some strange reason I never saw it coming!! There's no doubt that this is going to have serious repercussions on the story. What do you guys think will happen with Rita's kids? Do you think that Dexter will keep them? Or will they be sent to live with Rita's parents? I can imagine that I would probably be annoyed with having them take on a larger role in the story, though I'm excited to see Johnny Lee Miller and Juilia Stiles added to the cast this season. I forget who else I saw on the roster, but I know one of them is a nanny, so I guess that partially answers my question about the kids...but man, I hate Rita's kids almost as much as I hated Rita, but not nearly as much as I hate Deb. UGH!
Also, is anyone else tired of the relationship between Maria and Angel? Since when are we supposed to give a crap about their stupid relationship??
But whatever. I just wanted to get the conversation rolling so when the season starts I can come back and talk about the episodes...should I feel compelled.
Who's your favorite character?
Your favorite "bad guy"?
Who do you hate the most?
Who do want to/think will die this season?
Do you think there will another season after this one?

I don't get the channel showtime so thats what I do. I find the episodes streaming online .
My friend had the first 3 seasons on DVD, so he burned me copies of those. I caught up to those within a week of binging. Then I wanted to watch the 4th season which didn't have a dvd set so I found those online. Now I'm caught up and watching each episode of the 5th season after it is release online .
So far they are two episodes into this 5h season .
Hmm.. this topic inspires me to watch it a bit faster.
I've been meaning to watch it ever since it started..
Season 5 already? Damn, I have to hurry then.
Its not too bad. Each season has 12 episodes. Its not too big of a season that you need to catch up to. You should be able to do it . I did. It took me like 3 weeks to a month to catch up to 4 seasons.
pfft 3 weeks...a week at least with the days i got off uni n if i cram it all in fast n ignore people
That sounds good Hyst. So in the little you two have seen of Dexter what do you love about it?
dark humour ...
plus it quite tense when he forgets something n gets paranoid n thinks he gona get caught..
There are a few things I really love about it. The protagonist is evil and yet we are forced to love him. Moreover you end up forgetting he's really a bad guy because you get into his mind. No matter what you do, he obviously kills people, thats something thats bad even though he has his own sense of justice to it.
As well there is a lot of dark humor and almost stale humor since Dexter holds no actual emotion, or he at least comes to the conclusion he has none even though as you will see there are time in which he displays some without even realizing it.
Overall its just such a unique, one of a kind plot that you won't see anywhere else. It gets you thinking like the average mystery you normally have but at the same time there is just WAY more to it.
The mind of Dexter is just fascinating .
Also you see that one time he killed someone who didn't commit a crime, how broke up he was because he broke the code and thus felt he had actually done an injustice in killing someone for the first time in his life.
So just to clarify what I mean when I say justice .
also debra and her trash talks , the serial would be incomplete without her.
My favorite line from the most recent episode was when she went into Quinns apartment and when he answers the door she calls him "F*ck puddle" .
Whoever writes her script is amazing .
Overall there are times Deb annoys me but overall its quite funny, the crap that comes out of her mouth is just gold.
Okay...So...looks kind of weird with my post all up there and then Arrogance's beneath it...think I'll be editing that. Also, erm, yeah, there's no mention of spoilers in the topic name, which there should be, especially with my post up there spoiling the shit out of the whole thing. i'd take that liberty to but yeah, no go modding powers over here...Moderator message by: Charlie-San* Done
AND since no one really replied to MY specific post, then I'll do it myself.
Damn am I ever glad that Rita's kids are the f*ck out of the story for now. That little girl couldn't act her way out of a sack. I liked how they did it though, having her want to go and then tying that all in with Cody not wanting to and the brother sister thing and all that.
I'm still hating on Deb though. She's got serious issues and they aren't even amusing. But she is funny sometimes I guess, like when she's telling that douche to keep his fat sausage fingers off her. I hate that guy too, whatever his name is. (I tend to not even register the names of douches I hate lol) And speaking of him, I'm hoping that he's gonna be on the slab this season.
And more with the Angel/Maria crap? Waste of time. Who cares if she's got money? *sigh* Really, how is Angel even a cop? Date raping (though not really), beating the crap out of people...wait. Sounds like it fits now that I think about it.
Hmmm...anything else? AH! The new victim. Well, he's okay for a mark I guess, but i hope he doesn't last too long. I want more on the heat on that Dexter/Kyle Butler angle. Can they actually turn the heat up more than they did with the Bay Harbor Butcher case? That was probably my favorite of it all.

Yea, that was what happened when they merged it. Sorry about that, I was planning on making this thread for a while and the tunnel vision got to me and I never noticed you made one a few weeks ago . Also the threads were merged so all the posts above yours were from the thread I stupidly went and made, so no one saw your first post . Well they are together now in harmony and I and Charlie tried the best we could to fix my stupid error .
As for Rita's kids, I've always hated Aster and though she was a brat, and hormones have really gotten to her. She's the type of kid you just know is gonna be a a pain in the ass when she grows up. I feel bad for Cody though cause he wanted to stay with Dexter .
Yea the whole Deb and Quinn thing is really weird and Quinns another person I hate on the show. I love Deb's lines but if I had to meet her in the real world I'd probably be annoyed.
Angel/Maria isn't too bad. Its actually the most normal thing the show has at this point. In some weird way they work together that I really can't put into words.
As for the new victim I dunno how its going to turn out. I have a feeling Dexter may not even take care of him. I dunno, he's just got too much going on still.
