Seeing as there are two translations out there each week, maybe you're wondering why they are different. Well here you can ask about lines that you want to know more about . I'll happily explain the reason for my translation, and welcome Hisshou to join in as well .
While we're at it, Shocwave's translations were pretty bad, so if there is a part / chapter / page or something that you'd want looked over again, feel free to post that up too
If you're wondering what are different (seeing as you might have just read one scanlation so don't know, you can see here:
Njt gantz translations
Hisshou gantz translations
Or the week's latest translations:
Anyway~ let the questions begin
Just remember to post the chapter, page, and panel (easier for me to find that way ) (or get me to translate the entire page, that works too )

Nothing like Pro Otakus translating a great manga. *thumbs up*
Yea-h I just edited the front post, can you post the chapter and page? (I'd be more than happy to take it from there~
heres the chapter
the parts were he talks about his mom
I recently started reading Gantz and got caught up in 2 days so as a recent convert, I just HAD to read the latest translations because I really wanted to know what's happening. And so I read both versions and here are the differences that I noticed. Please explain the differences. ^_^ I will of course post njt's first (for the Japanese) and then the corresponding line(s) from Hisshou's version. Sorry, but I'm too lazy to write down the page number. Anyway, onward to the differences for chapter 283~
NJT chapter 283 TL: here
Hisshou's chapter 283 TL: here
Contradiction: one version says he's looking for an interpreter and the other he is the interpreter....
I'm a freelance reporter in Japan...
In the near future I'll be heading to Germany and would like an interpreter
Kikuchi: I am Japanese...
I am a freelance writer.
I'll be going to Germany soon to be an interpreter.
Contradiction: one version tells them to ask nishi questions, the other is directed at nishi telling him he needs to answer their questions
Alright, now ask Nishi any questions you'd like
Kurono: All right.
It's time to answer some questions.
Contradiction: one version says humans made aliens, the other says aliens are humans...
What would humans need to use... something like that for?
What about the aliens? What are they?
Are they made by humans too?
Yeah... That's been mentioned too....
Katou: Why...who would....
who would MAKE something like that...
Sakurai: What are the aliens?
they just might be.
Contradiction: one version says nishi has no reason to lie; other says he says it's reality...
There's no *reason* for me saying that
I'm just telling the truth
I can't wait for what's going to happen
Cause all the power relationships on this planet will be gone in a week.
Nishi: It fits in by being an inevitable realith.
I'm actually pretty pumped.
The very idea of "power" will be eradicated in a week.
Contradiction: one says 'change the result' the other doesn't.... eh... maybe not as big of a difference -___-;
No matter what happens...
to never give up fighting...
Change the result...
Stand and fight to the end
Oh, can you also post about what was wrong in the chapter when Kei's brother went to that seminar/meeting where some guy was talking about the vampires and nanobots in chapter 163. I'm confused about how they become vampires (Maybe you can post about what it says in the Gantz Manual about the vamps while you're at it ^_^)

While it doesn't say the exact verb, whether he wants or whether he will. The reasoning behind my interpretation is there's no reason for him to message the guy bragging about going to Germany to interpret. From the looks of his !! mark he was wanting something~Quote:
Well to break it down...Quote:
let it at him.
Put them together, you get my version~
The overall idea isn't wrong in Hisshou's though .
The important part of this translation comes before and after.Quote:
Cherry's still thinking about gantz being created, so he says
which can be interpreted as
Are they humans too?
But there are a few reasons why it's not.
1) Previous statement. (Humans made gantz)
2) Follow up statement. (He comments that it's hard to believe humans can make aliens yet)
3) The も which is used as "Also" which even strengthens the above points.
人間(に作られた）か is "Are they made by humans too?
Also, he doesn't say "huh" he says あれは which is asking "what about that"
And another thing, Katou uses 使って not 作って, use versus make. The stress is why would someone need to USE something like that to even justify the making of it.
Well literally speaking on the previous line Kurono says:Quote:
the どーゆうつもりで means "Why, for what reason"(trying to see why Nishi would be telling them that, maybe to scare them? Kurono doesn't know)
Nishi is just answering him. Telling him there's no *reason* どーゆうつもりも何も (the も何も makes it take negative form)
That he's just telling them the truth. ただ現実だって
So... whatever the result~
As for the vamp chapter I think I'll do a retrans of that entire one ._.

As I see some fast translations change thing upsideddown, can you suggest what translators are the most qualificated?
NJT please say Your oppinion...
Hm? In the Gantz world? Or in just other translations? (like Naruto)? If it's Gantz then... umm well I wouldn't be doing this thread if I didn't have confidence .
hey NJT how do u think darkhorse is doing with the trans?
accurate in your openion?
I find alot of things are diff then what we see online, but it may just be what Oku intended gantz to sound like
shure just give me a sec. Ill list them
these are the big things I can remember right now later Ill sit down and go through page by page and compair
:: They are listed in the gantz by dark horse thread in the gantz room ::
my work pc had a virus that blocks copy and paste >.< lol

Ok, so since I was bored and instead of doing what I should be doing, I thought I'd compare TLs for chapter 282, for those that are interested..... Same format as before: NJT first, and then Hisshou's corresponding TL afterwards just for Japanese purposes. No page numbers b/c I'm lazy. Some differences may be minimal or me just being nitpicky, but meh~ Onto the differences I found...
You can find NJT's chapter 282 TL: here
Hisshou's chapter 282 TL: here
Contradiction: one is proud; other is chest-beating.... I guess chest-beating may be symbolic of being proud?
Gantz 282 驕れる霊長類
Gantz 282 The proud primates
Title: Chest-Beating Apes
Contradiction: one mentions that the NHK wouldn't cover CG as news and says it's like the olympics (how they used CG); other says NHK covered the story (of the battle), but the story was up against the olympics
Get real! You mean the news? There's no way NHK would show CG as news.
Well they're saying it's the same as the Chinese Olympic opening ceremony
Kid2: What? On the NEWS?! Even NHK was covering it!
Kid3: Well, they were up against the Bejing Olympic opening ceremonies.
Contradiction: one says the stuff is happening all over the world; other one seems to say that the other tv stations around the world are also talking about it around the world or showing it on tv as well...
On CNN they were talking about how something like it happened in America too
Yeah, it's happening all over the world
like England, and France
CNN and the other American stations have the same stuff.
So do England, France...all over the world.
Contradiction: one says it's an urban legend; other says its legend only in the capital
That's nothing but an urban legend
Kids: They're just a legend in the capital.
Contradiction: one says it's a film; other says it's a stage show - are they the same in Japan?
Some kind of monster film!?
A monster stage show?
Contradiction: one says he wants to kill him; other says he wishes he could get away with doing that
Fuck that, I really want to kill him
Kid2: I swear, I wish I could get away with killing you.
Contradiction: one implies the use of an army; other has some type of arsenal; also- one doesn't know when the mission'll come; other has sentence cut off...
Those with a powerful arsenal will take control of the land.
I have no idea when the next mission will come!
A force wielding a powerful army will descend upon the earth and take control. [H: I'll concede invincible, but I still say "descend" is perfectly valid and has more flavor than "invade"]
Kurono text1: The next mission could come..
Contradiction: on the news... one says a gang attacks while other says a gang lives there...
On the news they said a gang attacked your apartments but...
Tae: The news said there was some sort of mob gang
living in your apartment complex...
Contradiction: one has natsu telling kei to say something; other doesn't
Look, it's Kurono-kun
I know! I know!! I haven't forgotten him!
C'mon, say, "Wow!" or
"I remember you!"
Contradiction: one seems to be missing part of a TL
So Kuro... you got a girl eh?
I have to admit, I'm surprised...
I guess it works out... since you
you got yourself a girlfriend, huh?
Good for you,
good for you.
Contradiction: loser doesn't equate to a homely face....
You got a girl that is as much of a loser as you are
It's almost heart warming
You guys look great together
Ryou: A homely broad like that...
Ahh, puts a smile on my face.
You two suit each other.
Contradiction: one is missing part of a TL...
Ryou-chan, how could you-
Contradiction: life is unfair vs. that's how the world works
You're always going to be a loser!!
Life is unfair!!
You'll never win, wuss!
That's how the world works!
Contradiction: one says that kei waits for darkness; other says he brings darkness
The daylight lantern simply waits for the darkness.
The darkness that visits the entire human species fairly
Text: A daytime lantern that only brings darkness. Darkness which puts all humanity on equal footing.
Hey, what happened to the comparison for chapter 163 and possibly TLing what they say in the Gantz Manual about vampires?
*cough* sorry for the delay will try to be more prompt, just trying to finish up a job first^^;;
