hi there i'm a new translator and currently translating my 1st shounen ai manga. i need help with the following japanese sentence.
「時岡ってさ カネ貰って 男柤手にやってるらしいよ」
i'm having problem with the kanji compound 男柤手. anyone has an idea what they mean?
時岡 is tokioka, which i presume to be one of the characters' name.
does カネ refer to money??
Ucchan (translator in training)
Yes, カネ is money... .-.
And well, can't say much without any context, but what I think the sentence means is, this Tokioka(?) guy (BTW, how can you PRESUME that it's one of the character name? Are you not familiar with the manga...? O_o") got paid by some guy to "accompany" him, just by assuming from the fact that this is shounen ai...-.-"
But I can't be totally sure unless more context is given...since yeah, if it's shounen ai, I'd assume that it's almost like that guy is out for a date with another guy or something. If it's shounen, I would've take it in a completely different manner...>_>"
are you sure you wrote the right kanji?
It seems like 男相手(otoko aite) to me. In that case, it can be translated as a male companion, I think?
男相手に = 男と with guys
