Magi is an amazing manga but still there are some people who does not appreciate it for unknown reason...
I like the comedic aspects of it, but I also really enjoy how political it is. I'm not really a huge fan of big battles, everyone going super saiyan, etc. I don't mind wars, but there's definitely more intrigue behind the flashy djinn equips and extreme magic that set Magi apart from the rest.
its great plot overall, great characters, an interesting power structure and good comedy
it has become one of my favorites for sure
lol that face
I discovered Magi when it was still around chapter 30. It has been a favourite of mine since. Although the voice of Aladdin in the anime isn't the best.
I'm not sure what to think of the direction the manga has been going in the latest chapters, to me it's been kind of meh.
Just happened to come across this list and was ecstatic. It's "kinda" old news but not really, it goes up to May:
Top-Selling Manga in Japan by Series: 2013 (First Half)
One Piece - 7,944,680
Magi - 4,787,519
Kuroko's Basketball - 4,712,773
Attack on Titan - 4,292,208
Hunter × Hunter - 3,616,288
Naruto - 2,860,385
Assassination Classroom - 2,504,200
Silver Spoon - 1,926,298
Fairy Tail - 1,853,510
Terra Formars - 1,721,651
If this is accurate, then mother of god. Wasn't there a guy in this thread saying how FT is #1 in sales?
Seeing Magi taking over Naruto and FT... My heart is at peace!
I mean, I'm really happy for our dear manga to level up with the top notchers (Naruto,FT,One Piece and Bleach) This means that the manga is becoming a hit! I hope this continues on for the next years and also I hope the fandom blooms
(so that we can finally have a remake of the anime)
There are a lot of mangas that seem well-liked by the American audiences that end up dying quickly in Japan, and I feel like Magi is the opposite. It's popular in Japan it seems, yet doesn't seem to get the level of discussion around here that other manga get. However up until the end of Magnostadt, I've seen very little criticism of Magi from its own fans, I can only think of 2 specific people lol. But when I think of other manga that I discuss, it's 100% about power levels and just general plot prediction. Magi has that, plus some pretty deep morality questions as seen with magnostadt and the magician/goi relationship.
I would prefer that it stays popular in japan where the money is... it will at least ensure fans like us get to see the end of this story. Im really impressed/surprised that magi has pulled into second, but honestly i enjoy it much more than things naruto, bleach, FT, ect. so i hope it catches on in America and we can at least get dubs for the first two seasons of anime at some point.
A second later i also looked up at one piece and god damn! That story is going to be around for another decade+.
Magi is a young series, it just released in USA, so is a bit early to say its popularity, even more comparing to Naruto, Bleach and One Piece, but indeed it has a amount of fans here in the ocident that will support the series here. I give example by my country that one of the series more requested is Magi.
In Japan Magi has a solid popularity that only increased with the anime, but I'm worried with the direction of the story, seems like that is going to a end.
I literally said "if this is accurate", so if someone has reason to think it is not then just say it and don't insult me lol. Certain manga that are not as popular and get relatively low discussion on forums like this seem to be super popular over there...Assassination Classroom is a good example.
