It's kind of the opposite for me. I sympathetically tear up over sob stories I want to be sympathetic with (and the Japan tragedy has a lot of that, especially when you watch the news and can understand Japanese). So, in order not to look like a big crybaby, I have to not care about tearjerkers when other people are around.
I wish I had real means to help, but life is difficult right now as it is.

er... sorry but after work and doing the laundry (and forcing time for manga ) I conk out.
jap gov't raised the alert level to 7, the same level for chernobyl, saying there isn't any new concerns, but it's just that level. no radiation leaks, just radioactive materials leaking out the ocean.
still, its bad. radioactive half-life present in ocean water is really bad.
