Here we can discuss about one of the most popular manwhas out there.

It's about a girl who finds out she's actually engaged to the prince in the Korean Royal family due to a promise the former king made with her grandpa. The next heir to the crown, Shin, ends up being a total jerk, but due to some reasons they marry anyway.
Well... and now imagine you're 17 years old and married to a prince? And although this dude is damn good looking he seem to be such a dork sometimes. But is he really?
And then our heroine, Chae Gyeong, has to deal with living at the royal palace, far away from her home, court intrigues and the prince's attractive cousin, Yul.
Really, it's a.......drama. A pretty addictive one.
It's got everything you need: Love, romance, comedy, some kind of a cinderella story, beautiful art.
So anyone already read this? What do you think about it?

When I first read about your recommendation of that title, I definitely thought about trying it - but right now my table's full with manga I want to read at the moment.
Still, I promise this will be the next shoujo title I'll try and I'll get back to you. It does seem very interesting, and its Korean backstory is appealing to me because I used to have a Korean girlfriend in the past. I like learning about her culture. ( I picked up Clamp's Legend of Chun Hyang because of her, but that's another story, another thread... XD )

Sounds like something I'd enjoy, but since I have dial-up now, I can't download any manga. But I don't have much time anyway. Hopefully someone will pick it up and release it in print.
Get broadband, Silva!!!
I can't. The apartment complex doesn't support DSL and I can't afford cable.
Bleeeh, sorry to hear that. Well, hopefully it'll be in print soon, yeah.
Hey, Silva, why not write about something you're reading? Never mind, just saw your Shojo Beat thread. =)
*comes out of lurking for the first time*
Goong was licensed by Ice Kunion and the first volume is slated for a May release with the second volume tentatively scheduled for August. I can vouch for this series being really good - my mom who hates things related to anime/manga/manwha actually watched about 10 minutes of the live-action drama based on the series and ENJOYED it. I definitely recommend reading the manwha and if possible watching the drama, which you can get through d-addicts.com. It's a great series and I'm glad that people recognize it. It definitely deserves all the hype.
*fades back into the woodwork*
Welcome, YukariRin! Please come around more often ;D

I downloaded the first eight volumes of Goong, will give it a try as soon as I finish Vagabond (and some more volumes of Hajime no Ippo).

Read the whole first volume, and... it's just not my thing. LoL.
Maybe if the translation had been better done, I would have been able to enjoy it more, but I also don't really like the art and romance stories I guess is just not the type of genre I go for - ah well
wow~ goong is here as well?
I have read upto volume 12 in Korean raw.
Romance is high in the air~ Love triangle or should i say sqare? XD
it would b cool really Korean loyal would be revive like queen in UK...
But the problem is Royal families are all over the place at the moment...lol
and is really hard to define who would be the king at the moment as well
I have not seen the Goong manga in the US...I dont think its out yet at all. But I'll check on what you said...thanks!
Watched the drama first and then decided to read the manhwa. Right now I've read up to Volume 10, can't wait for the rest to come out.
Does anyone have the pic for the cover of Volumes 1 and 2? The only images I've been able to find for these covers are the ones over at Amazon which don't actually have the Goong logo on it or the volume no.
Omg! I did not know that was the actual Prince Williams!?#!@
Aha.. I knew the Goong manga sounded familiar...so it is based on the TV show! Or was the TV show based on the manga? Hmmm... Well thanks anyways Miso for linking it up .
There was a <a href="http://english.tour2korea.com/02Cult...2_6&konum=1/"> korean drama </a>based on Goong manga, and just completed its 1st season recently. There are talks of 2nd season ,but the lead actor & actress will not be acting. Anyway, that's just some side info for you.
p.s. Btw,your avatar looks deadly familar! :P
i read till chapter 73 and then stopped, just getting boring so continue it later but the general plot is nice, yeah i recommend it
Yes, I agree too...its actually quite a long series...12 volumes and still running..
Actually I kind of like this story...It is quite political, with the fight over the throne and even an unborn baby can affect who will be the next Crown Prince. And there is even indirect 'bitch' fight between the Queen and Yul's mum. Go imagine..Really some complex issues that lie beyond the peaceful family image that the Royal Family has to project to the rest of the world.
And the 'best' part is, Chae Yong is still ding-donging between Shin & Yul, even at Vol 12..
