Almost every chapter includes boobs or panties - thy are an integral part of the manga History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi. What are your views on the amount of ecchi in this manga? Is it the reason you read the manga or is it something that prevents you from liking the manga even more or...? Do you wish there was even more ecchi?
Personally, as you can tell from my info at the left side, I am a girl, thus I'm not a fan of the ecchi. I put up with it because I like the action and fights when there are pages with more hardcore ecchi content I try to skip the page if there are no words or quickly skim over it to read the words
If you like the ecchi, what about it do you like?
I like ecchi but I have to admit that in HSDK there's too much fan service. It would be fun if it was every few chapters, but so often there was a double page of a halfnaked shigure etc. it looses it's effect on me.
I like the harem thing (also in Ranma 1/2, the World God Only Knows, etc,) So many chicks are after Kenichi and he has no clue. Almost went off topic but harem and ecchi are quite close to each other.
The early chapters had just the right amount of fanservice, but it wasn't blatant. In some of the newer chapters it can be....excessive. I would not feel comfortable reading those with anybody nearby, thats for sure. Shigure's fight with that knight is just an example of the fanservice being far too much, to the point where it overshadows the plot.
Only if you let it.
I don't really mind it. When it goes overboard it's more humorous than erotic, at least to me. I almost laughed out loud when Ma Kensei fought Mad Sword Izayoi. It feels like the author likes to provoke readers. Maybe it's some kind of way of making the reader relate more to Kenichi if we go by the idea that most of the readers are around Kenichi's age or know how Kenichi's age felt like.
Or he just loves drawing feminine curves and I must admit, he does it pretty well.
But I do see how it could bother some readers. Not sure what should bother males though. And for females, you get your portion of muscled up male bodies too.
Gotta agree with bludvein that sometimes the ecchi gets so much it overshadows the plot, and that's a bad thing.
Also, I wonder how the new censorship laws will affect the amount or type of fanservice Matsuena-sensei will give. It seems that for now Sunday is totally ignoring it (what with their recent series Momi Baraishi which I think has more sexually explicit themes than Kenichi), but if the authorities decide to clamp down, Kenichi will most likely be affected.
Matsuena is going back to his old style, since excessive ecchi is now prohibited. Again.
On Onemanga it was removed to 1000manga because of that. It's can't be because of the violence because Bleach wasn't removed and is in my opinion much more violent.
I have always love the ecchi/fanservice in HSDK. I think it is done in a masterful level. Boobs and panties are seamlessly inserted into the story without interrupting anything or becoming a distraction.
does anyone else get uncomfortable with honaka's suggestive poses?
everyone else is fine as far as im concerned. i find it quite funny actually, like foxy boxing or something. the more serious a female fight is, the more clothes begin to disapear.
I feel like even though the level of ecchi has been steadily rising as the story has progressed, it feels as if its normal for the manga.
idk i guess after reading it for so long i kinda grew accustomed to the ecchi so much to the point where it doesnt really take away from the story at all.
If anything it was more distracting back when the story was at its start, as opposed to now when you've read 400+ chapters and youve come to expect that sort of this from the manga
I've heard many people complaining about this.
But to me, the ecchi is just right. Something nice to enjoy with HSDK.
I don't care much about the ecchi level as long as it doesn't ruin the story xD.
But it almost seems to be ruining the story nowadays, half the shots are framed only to almost show Miu's or someone elses kooch, for Christ's sake!
I love me some funny ecchi from time to time, but at least to my memory there simply wasn't this much going on in the first half of the manga. It's beginning to take enjoyment out of my reading, I don't know whether to enjoy the nicely drawn battle scenes or get aroused, and I'm not into fapping at cartoons, really.
Now after playing Katawa Shoujo and giving Good Ending a chance, Kenichi is starting to feel awfully tacky.
