Although it’s good to know he wasn’t trying to deliberately kill Kaiji, I still think the boss is a horrible and despicable person. Which makes me wonder if he is a genuine bad person or if he is that way because of the things he had to face in his life…he is in that underground mine…so at least one bad thing must have happened to him…now I’m curious as to why he is in that mine…Quote:
Thank you for not spoiling me! Part of the enjoyment of watching this series is not knowing what to expect.Quote:
Episodes 5 and 6
This series just loves to toy with my emotions, the feeling of suspense while watching these past two episodes has been incredible. But that feeling of suspense is the very reason why I enjoy watching this series and I so can’t wait to watch the next episode.
During episode 5 and 6 I was finally able to comprehend honcho’s way of cheating (the 4-5-6 dice) and Kaiji’s plan.
It was very…thrilling to watch Kaiji playing psychological tricks on honcho’s mind. And Kaiji, what a great actor you are!! He deceived the honcho and his lackeys and even me, because for a couple of moments there I was really worried about Kaiji and the 45ers’s fate, but he brilliantly proved how awesome he is during the end of episode 5 and also during the end of episode 6. Waiting for the next episode is so hard, but I’m sure an amazing new episode is coming our way.
- Karma is a very scary thing, as honcho learned in this episode. The foreman finally received the punishment he deserved for cheating and, yes I guess I can say this, for robbing the money from the people he played chinchiro with.
- Kaiji…he is amazing! He is not a bishonen but he has won me over with his intelligence, braveness and determination. I’ve become a Kaiji fangirl.
- Kaiji’s plan = pure awesomeness. Now that I fully understand his plan I must say that Kaiji is one smart guy, maybe even a bit of a genius, because his plan sure was a masterpiece.

Some parts of this episode were pretty difficult to watch I must admit. I’m specifically referring to the scenes where Sakazaki’s anguish and despair over the fact that he had been utterly defeated by the Bog were painfully palpable not only by his facial expressions and tears but also by how his body was reacting to said fact. It was very painful and hard to watch Sakazaki during those scenes; in an attempt to recover his happiness and his family he lost it all. I guess the hardest part about those scenes was the fact that they could easily happen in RL, every day many people lose everything because of gambling…some even their lives. I was glad that Kaiji was there to support and help Sakazaki and it seems Kaiji already has a plan to defeat the Bog, I really hope he is able to do it.
A new character was introduced during this episode, one that appears in the OP and that I have been looking forward to know more about since the very beginning of the series, that character is Ichijou.
I have the feeling that Kaiji vs. Ichijou has started and I so can’t wait to watch more of this battle that promises to be an incredible one.

It is such a shame that this series doesn’t get enough love here on MH; such an awesome series deserves all the fandom love it can get.
Another brilliant episode! Although I don’t fully understand Kaiji’s plan to defeat the man-eating bog yet, I could easily notice how his brain was starting to create what I have no doubts will be a majestic and thrilling plan. I can’t wait for Kaiji’s plan to be put into action.
And now there are three. Another member has joined Kaiji’s team, Endoh. I haven’t watched the first season of the series, but I have a feeling Endoh is not someone you can totally trust in. I really hope he doesn’t betray Kaiji. That being said, I can’t wait to see how everything unfolds in the coming episodes.

I've been busy and thus a few episodes behind, but just caught up. Damn this anime is just intense! I already know what is going to happen, and still sit trembling on edge of seat while watching it. I love how overdone the reactions and metaphores are done. With the twisting distorted faces and such. It makes you really feel the tensity of the situation. And all the while has slightly sick comedic aspect to it too.
It is kinda dissapointing that Kaiji doesn't have that big of a following. It certainly deserves more love. It is right up there with Death Note and Liar Game, which are both very popular. The hell, even the soundtrack is composed by the same guy who did Death Notes ost. Maybe it is the artstyle which turn people off?
So, now Endou is in, and the plan to defeat Ichijou and that precious Bog of his really starts to roll. Can't wait for the following episodes. Btw looking to the pace of the anime, it make me feel like they'll include a bit of part three of the manga to the ending of season 2. Which would make sense, considering the ending.
ITA. I have been lurking on other sites, and although Kaiji does have a bigger fandom on those other series than here on MH, it is still not as big as this series deserves. While lurking in Kaiji fandom, I stumbled across an anime blog. I like to read the reviews of this fellow Kaiji fan, his reviews are pretty good and it makes me happy to see Kaiji receiving the love it deserves.Quote:
I didn’t know the OST was composed by the same guy who did DN’s. wow! That explains why Kaiji’s OST is so awesome. I have been listenting to some songs from the OST of the first season and they are great which only increases my anticipation for the OST of this second season.Quote:
The art style certainly isn’t the prettiest one, but once you get pass that you realize how fantastic the series is and you don’t even notice the art style anymore…or you notices it but it doesn’t bother you anymore, at least that is what happened to me. Maybe people think that they need to watch the first season in order to watch the second one and that is why they don’t give this series a try? Whatever the reason, it is pretty sad that not many people are interested in watching this series.
And that is where the girl that appears in the ED will be introduced, right?Quote:

For me the artstyle was love at first sight, but I can see it is too weird/"ugly" for some. As what comes to the seasons case. Yeah, plausible. And the first season was kind f an "sneak attack" since there was hardly any hype/discussion about it before hand. Or that's how I've understod it. Didn't actually cath it when it first aired, but sometime later.
