cmertb, you actually sound like me. I am not a poet, and I don't know how to make or understand haiku (俳句, wiki) or senryu (川柳, wiki) well.
If haiku were to be expressed in a different art form, Blue II (a painting in blue with black dots and a red line) by Joan Miro would be a great one.
Utsu, are there any equivalent expressions of haiku in music?
Do you know the difference between haiku and senryu? Which one doesn't generally include a kigo (season word)?

Shiritori (しりとり) is a word game in which the players say a word that begins with the last kana of the previous word.
れたす (retasu, lettus) ---> すいか (suika, watermelons) ---> からす(karasu, crows)
