I dont know exactly how is the French Glénat, but last DGM volume published in Spain downgraded the quality of the paper severely following French branch instructions.
After that, Glénat Spain bought the rights and the name in Spain (or so I heard) and working now independent to France they started to publish new mangas (as Aoi no Exorcist,...) and, it seems, they are back to the previously good quality (even better than the original Japanese versions!!).
Anyways, that's something I will only be sure when they release the new volume now in December. I can tell you then, guys, if you're interested in the Spanish one. (Quality is good and translations are good enough (no strange changes in the name of things, technics, characters, etc...))
Better than having a less quality, mangas in France are printed using recicled paper. And it's true that pages have a yellowish tone, but DGM's volumes since vol 17, from Glenat, changed to white recicled pages.
And the advertisment for DGM Noche says "collector artbook" and its price is 20€, so its quality must be different form usual mangas...
It is confirmed that volume 23 of D.Gray-man will be released on March.
It's about time. It was supposed to be released in December.
I figure that Johnny will be on the cover, unfortunately. Kanda would be too much of a spoiler, and Allen gets too many covers as it is.
I didn't know where to post it, but I found an interview of Katsura Hoshino...
She talks about of many different things:
1) The current saga with the trio Johnny-Kanda-Allen.
2) Love between Kanda and Alma, and the ratio of Allen with these two.
3) The definition of the new Kanda's Mugen (結晶化について - Crystallization).
4) The inner growth of Allen, that leads the mangaka at a new characterization and design of the main character.
5) Finally, the manga will go in his hot hand in April after the release of Vol.23 in March.
Thanks to verduistering from dgraydivinity for the translation *O*
About Kanda saying thank you to Allen:
Hishino had no plans to make Kanda stop calling Allen moyashi but when she decided on the Alma Arc, she decided to make Kanda call Allen by his name.
She re-drew Kanda’s smile again and again. She still fusses about drawing his smile.
About Kanda returning:
The Order left a bad impression because of the Alma Arc and imprisoning Allen. By having Kanda return to the Order, she wanted to make the Order look a little better (t/n: I’m not 100% sure of the ‘look better’ part).
She thinks that readers were expecting for Kanda to re-appear when Allen was in a pinch, but she’s glad she didn’t.
(Manager: Seeing Kanda helped Linalee to stop feeling hesitant)
About Kanda’s ‘crystallization’:
During the storyboard phase, Kanda wasn’t smiling, but she felt so strongly for the Alma Arc that she personally wanted to see Kanda smile, so during the drawing phase she drew him smiling.
She’s worried whether it was okay to make him smile.
Initially she was going to make him a minor character, but since drawing him during the Alma Arc he got his current role.
She believes that if there are no roles like the ordinary Johnny, the world can’t be saved.
(Manager: Hishino worries about the fact that Johnny and the Earl aren’t popular.)
About Lavi’s story:
Lavi is currently going through misfortune but that misfortune is necessary for him to advance to the next level.
Initially, she was planning to draw more about Lavi but the Order part got priority so she wasn’t in the time to draw him for the year of the Rabbit, but she’ll return to his story in the future.
(Manager: Hearing the plot for Lavi’s story gave him goose bumps.)
The reunion with Allen:
Allen will grow and change on the inside. She wants to draw those changes with care.
Also, Kanda will still call Allen moyashi in the future.
A word to the readers:
She’ll draw about Lavi so the fans can relax.
But she wants to draw about the growth of the main character so Lavi’s debut might be postponed again...
Allen will face more sorrow in the future, but there will also be bright sides.
Sounds good to me. Lavi keeps getting brushed to the side, and hasn't really been featured in the manga as a main character since 2008, but his day will come. Hopefully before 2012 is over.
There is a color pic from chapter 210 (the photo of Allen and the guy from Science Team) on here @_@
Yet, still purple....
The image is so small. *squints* Hopefully we'll see a full size image of it soon.
Thank you for posting the interview! I love how she's so open, and we know what her thought process was as she was working.
Called it on the reason why Kanda was reintroduced the way he did. :3
This has definitely been brought up to discussion before, but as I was pondering on the whole Mana/Nea
/Earl/Tyki/Road/Allen-mystery (at 3 A.M. ), I started wondering again:
What if a Noah tries to bring back someone they loved? Do you think Earl would/could turn a Noah into an Akuma..? Or is it only theoretically possible anyway, since the Noah already know it's impossible? What are your thoughts? ... and what is the "true meaning behind the Akuma"??
Smiley-stages when trying to resolve DGM's mysteries: *starts over again*
EDIT: ... what if a normal human tries to bring back a Noah from the dead..?
