You should. It's not only about superheroes. There are movies that was based on graphic novels (smart word for comics) like Road to Perdition (Tom Hanks, Paul Newman), A History of Violence (Vigo Mortensen), and of course Sin City (Jessica Alba and all those nameless actors and actresses).Originally Posted by juUnior
There will be other great comics movie in 2007 too, like Sin City 2 (also starring my personal goddess, Jessica Alba) and 300 (also from Frank Miller's story about the battle of Thermopylae).
Yeah, I'm also hoping for that, especially that his work in new films with him was in good critics (or so I read somewhere xD).Originally Posted by ichimaru_gin_n_tonic
hehe maybe I will, Sin City i will see for sure, because I was planning that :POriginally Posted by ichimaru_gin_n_tonic
Don't forget V for Vendetta, ichi. That movie was probably the best comic book adaptation I've seen in years.
As for my own favorites, Superman (the first movie) still ranks as the top film. It's one of these classics that just keep you entertained even if you've watched it 100 times. The special edition DVD with all the extra scenes didn't hurt either (I own that).
Batman Begins would have to be my second fav right now. Nothing against Tim Burton, but his movies were more about the villains than Batman. Batman Begins finally got it right. I don't think they'll ever have to do the "origin story" again - thank God.
Spider-Man (the first movie) would have to be number three. I liked it so much (despite hating Green Goblin's costume) that it actually persuaded me to go back to reading American Comics after I had given it up in high school (after the Clone Saga). Also, watching Spider-Man also led me to looking for reviews on it on the internet which eventually led me to a forum that I joined - the very first forum I ever joined on the internet. If not for Spider-Man, who knows, I may not be your friendly neighborhood admin here at MH right now!
That about sums up my top three right now. The only comic book movie I've actually disliked to this point was The Hulk though... which was just horrible. My parents hated it too, so I know it's not just me.
History of Violence - Kicks ass, literally and figuratively
Sin City - Awesome
Road to Perdition - this was a graphic novel??? Wow..
300 - I honestly believe will surpass Sin City
Was the desperado also a graphic novel, or just a really cool trilogy?
Both Sin City and 300 is written by Frank Miller. And he always write the great stuff.Originally Posted by refii

I just realized I meant to say Batman Begins not Batman Returns in my previous post >.> Edited.
Well I guess this is really ana discussion on movies and not fantasies but I want a Captain America movie. Maybe with a WWII setting, movies about Nazi Germany usually sell good. That and Cap has always been a fave of mine, when he's not on the Avengers. Though I have no qualms wth him in the Ultimates.
Also another Comic book hero that needs to be movie-ized is Green Latern. Can't be that hard to do, have Hal Jordan crash (yes it has to be Hal and not Kyle) land his plane into a Latern who just got blasted into Earth. Have him die after using his ring to save Hal, then give Hal the ring and have a kick ass fight ^^. The rest of the plot can just be ripped of the comics I guess >.>
I second that motion. If they're really making a GL movie. I'll fly to Holywood to join the casting audition. I dont care if they'll cast me as G'Nort.Originally Posted by manu

Gwyneth Paltrow is playing Pepper Potts in the Iron Man movie...
I find it disturbing that blond actresses are stealing roles from perfectly good and talented red head actresses.
It was announced in the Marvel site D: I do feel as distressed as you do. The thing that I don't understand is how they even chose her? From what I know, they were asking people on their MySpace account on who should play her, and I do not understand how Gwyneth Paltrow's name came into the mix D:
I can't stop feeling sad. I wanted a red-headed actress to play her. XD
Eh. There's not many redhead actresses out there that I like anyway. Though I'm not crazy about Paltrow.
Scarlett Johansson could make a great Pepper Pot. I dont care if she's not a redhead.
^HRm. That's not a bad idea. I like Scarlett >.>;
But there's jsut something about Gwynetth that I can't see as Pepper. She looks too skinny I think D:
Right now, I smetimes wish it were a few years ahead. Marvel's working on alot of up-coming movies, and it's great! Avengers, Capt. America, Iron Man, Ant Man and many more! But I really can't wait for Ant MAn!! XD It's supposedly going to feature the first two 'Ant Man'. Personally, I'm hopnig to see Hanks get his ass kicked by Scott. Booyah!
Would still be nice to see someone working on Fables though
