Yes - GO HIRAMARU.
No - REJECTED.
No - He's got no ring. D:
No - Ferris wheel is out of order (comedy option)
The one thing that's lacking in real life for Ohba/Obata is that they didn't work together for DN. AFAIK, Ohba sent Obata the names/manuscripts and Obata did the artistry. Plus, there's no girl in the life of Obata in the same way. Um, plus, Ohba's like 43, not in his 20s, so... :P
I do wonder who Ohba/Obata based Hiramaru off of though.

Ah yes, Death Note was not the same without L... It seems like Ashirogi is, in a sense, being made to "correct" the mistakes made with Death Note... In a sense, anyway.
It's true (to my knowledge, lol) that there's no Azuki parallel and they clearly are both much older than Ashirogi, but of course, it can't be a direct parallel to real life. It's a manga, and it has to be interesting, therefore more interesting pieces of the plot were put in. But this just makes me think that thanks to this manga, we the readers get so much insight into how things really work in the manga industry... With all the parallels that we're all realizing, there could be even more that we know about how things really are, and not even realize it yet.
I have a feeling Hiramaru is one of those characters who has no direct real life parallel. Well, I should HOPE so, anyway. He seems a bit, uhh, pathetic...? Is that the word? LOL
I bring you Chapter 159 :3
GO HIRAMARU! YOU CAN DO IT!
I wonder if scans were later than usual because of the sound effects. I noticed MRI have started editing even the japanese sound effects in their recent releases. Personally, I preferred if they left it as the original, but that's just me.
Anyway, I've added a poll to the thread, guys. I'll be honest, logically speaking, he should be rejected. But because this a manga, Aoki just might say the magical yes word. Of course, unless there's no 'interruption'. Haha.
LOL it's true, this week's release is pretty late.
I too prefer the original Japanese sound effects... Especially if editing them slows down releases. >.<
About Hiramaru... I'm kinda indifferent as to what happens. For me, he is a character I don't like, but also don't hate. He's just kind of there...
I do think if he does propose and Aoki does say yes, the story could get interesting... So for the sake of the story, then maybe...? I mean, if not, it seems like things would just continue as they have been, without much progress being made.
Good question. What happens if she says yes and what happens if she says no? This is a long stretch but if Hiramaru and Aoki get married, it could provide a nice exit for Aoki as a mangaka. She's had 3 series cancelled now. Arai got 3 series cancelled and he got the boot. But it's a long stretch of a prediction because Yoshida mentions "her next serialization" so she probably doesn't get the same treatment as Arai.
But at the same time, I can't help but wonder, HOW THE HECK IS HE GOING TO PROPOSE WITHOUT A RING. Of course, Mashiro didn't have any ring when he proposed to Azuki, which in restrospect is pretty lame actually.
If Hiramaru manages to whip out a ring in the next chapter, I demand Mashiro does another proposal to Azuki when their dreams finally come true. D<
Loved this latest chapter
I'm kinda hoping things work out for Hiramaru
If Aoki says okay and they up getting married, That'll make Mashiro even lamer than before!! For me anyway.
Mashiro didn't get an anime for any of his works, but his rivals did. Niizuma, Iwase, Fukuda, Hiramaru, even Takahama got at least a J-drama. What did Mashiro get? An audio drama.
And his love life is getting even worse for me. Tagaki got married, and Hiramaru is getting close to it, and Niizuma and Iwase are an unofficial couple! What did he get other than holding hands with Azuki?!
C'mon Mashiro! You're being left behind!
chapter already out ??? Oo
and a love/shame chapter on top of that...
Hiramaru will do it! He and Aoki are getting older, they need to marry soon! I wonder how Nakai will react to it...
Aside from the awesome Hiramaru epicness, I do wonder why Hattori reacted so strangely.I used to respect him as an editor, so seeing him almost wetting his pants was kinda surprising. Even though it is a shonen in JUMP,making Reversi unnecessarily long is outright idiotic.
